How Do I Recover A Word Document.. Assignment For Uni.. Really Important. Please Help :(?

So lastnight I did a HUGE amount of work on my Marketing assignment and am 100% sure that I pressed save VARIOUS times throughout the night… and now, for the life of me, I can’t bloody find it! The document I thought I saved said that I haven’t made any changes since 5pm that day, when in actual fact I saved it at around 1am. Please please please tell me there is some secret way to retrieve this?????? I am even more annoyed because I thought to myself “Maybe I will save it to my USB just incase” before I told myself “nahh, nothing is going to happen to it”. My Marketing Plan is due today and I am supposed to be sending this draft to the rest of my group..
I need a miracle.

If you happen to know what the file was called type it in on the sherch bar. Windows or Mac? If it is on a mac type it in in the spotlight. and yes ALWAYS back up important work if you are using a mac buy an external hard disk and set up time machine to back up every 1/2 half hour or use a memory stick.

You could try the following free recovery software. I’ve had success with it before to recover word documents.
It is made by the same people who mae the popular ccleaner and is free.http://www.piriform.com/recuva

UPDATE: I didn’t see your note about using Win7 while I was writing my response. Hopefully, you will be able to find the search options I described.
    ————————————–…
This potential rescue assumes you’re using Windows.
    1. Click START > Search
    2. If your system defaults to Windows Search, scroll to the bottom of the screen and click “Search Companion.
    3. Under ‘File Name’ type *.doc (or *.docx if your using Word 2010). The asterisk is a wild card.
    4. Under ‘Look In’ choose “My Computer”
    5. Under ‘When it was modified’ choose the “Within the Last Week” radio button.
    6. Under ‘Type of File’ choose “All Files and Folders”
    7. Under ‘More Advanced Options’ choose/check “System Folders”, “Search Hidden Files and Folders”, “Search Sub-Folders”
    8. Click ‘Search’, sit back and pray.
If this doesn’t produce a positive result, try again with the following change:
Step 3. Under ‘File Name’ type *.wbk (this is the file extension of Word back-up files created while you’re working on a document.
    Click ‘Search’.
Finally, if this doesn’t produce a positive result, try again with the following change:
Step 3. Under ‘File Name’ type ~ (the tilde symbol is the first character of a temporary file)
    Click ‘Search.
    Good luck!
