Is Psychotherapy Helpful And Does It Work?

isn’t all this just talking about one’s problem or is there more to it? I’ve talked a lot about my problems and what the problem is, with the person I’ve had problems with, but it turns into an argument, which is useless, since I have to live with this person. I know my ultimate solution is to get out and move on, on my own. But does psychotherapy exist for a reason other than psychotherapist making money off of a niche?

    it does work (personal experience) if you are in there with another person (beside the therapist) or are you alone. If you are not alone you might want to try it. It all depend on the situation that you are going there for. It work for me and my sisters husband (don’t ask please)

    It really does work. It is talking about your problems, but to a person who knows how to analyze your thoughts and create ideas that may help you improve on them. Realistically, talking about your problems to some one in itself is very comforting. Also, when you have a problem, you have difficulty seeing simple things – because you are too involved. Thats why its easier to give advice to friends for their problems than it is for you to have ideas for your own problems.
    It takes a good relationship with the therapist for it to work. You need to trust him/her. This might mean you try out several different therapists. But it does work, I promise you. I’m a psych major planning to be a clinical therapist, and I believe I have a great grasp on the psyche, but I see a therapist because it’s extremely hard to be honest with yourself – you always look to protect yourself.

    Not exactly. Psychotherapy can also help you find solutions & ways to help you cope with your problems. However, it doesn’t work for everyone in the same way. Some people need more help involved.

    If you have insurance that covers mental health it can’t hurt. It’s more helpful for people that have actual disorders but they can help with short term problems too.

    Psychotherapy Is best when used on yourself. No doctor can help you ,more than you can.,unless you know what is wrong first. I practice a system of self help i call seven habits. It is the idea 24/7 as a lifestyle.

    Psychotherapy is Child looking to be an Elder. It will continue to win until it realizes new Children are his own.
