I don’t know what “la niche” means in English.
The word “niche” in English literally means a small space in a wall where you can put something in.
This can be used to form many imageries.
Here’s an example:
“We put the statue inside the left niche on the wall.”
“It is better for a business to choose a niche in the market and specialize in it, than to expand too quickly and not be specialized in any one industry.”
A niche is a hollow area in a wall which has been made to hold a statue, or a natural hollow part in a hill or cliff.
niche /niʃ/ feminine noun
(de chien) kennel;
Archit (de statue) niche;
(alcôve) recess;
(familiar) (farce) trick;
Comm niche market
There are a lot of possibilities.
But, in general, not always, but practically, the niche it’s the place where dogs are sleeping.
