A couple of months ago I started getting random pop ups. It’s always pop ups that have to do with the site I’m on but they’re not affiliated with the website they’re just pretending to be. Like if I go to chase.com a fake chase pop up comes up. Or if I’m on victoriassecret.com a fake VS pop up comes up. How can I get rid of this? I have Mcaffee security or something like that but when I try to use it it just opens up the website and tells me to buy stuff. What do I do? I want them to go away and I don’t want to buy anything.
Get rid of that virus.
1. it depends on what internet browser you use, every browser has security and privacy and popup blocker options that you may need to turn on..
2. alot of pop ups could be a result of a virus, it seems to me you dont have mcaffee, instead its just a link to mcaffee or you may of had a trial period thats expired, so you could have a virus..if this is the case than the best thing to do is go ahead and buy mcaffe, itll get rid of the virus and keep you protected in the future..
First of all, turn on your Pop up blocker. You didn’t mention what browser you are using so just use it’s Help menu in the tool bar to find out how to do it.
Second, install this and scan your computer for malware.:http://www.malwarebytes.org
It’s free. I’m sure you’ll find something in your computer as you are experiencing those pop ups.
Edit: Ok so now I see you have Firefox. Click on Tools > Options > Contents > Block Pop up Windows.
Try a program like malware bytes or spybot search and destroy. A good portion of the time excessive pop-ups are caused by malwares.
Your question is so details, so your Firefox Web browsers are blocking pop-up websites can do like this:
On the “Tools” menu, click on “Options” and then go to the content tab on Firefox or the privacy tab on Internet Explorer. Check-mark the box “Block Pop-up Windows,” and enter in specific websites that you do not want to block in the “Exceptions” area.
Open the Mozilla Firefox Web browser on your computer. Click the menu “Tools” and choose “Options.”
Select the tab “Content” in the Option window. Check the box “Block pop-up windows” and click the button “OK.”
If you do that have no meaningful, i recommend you to use antivirus scan your computer overview. Antivirus need more details,GO TO—>http://www.kingsoftsecurity.com/kingsoft-antivirus.html
Scan your computer with a legitimate anti-spyware software. Choose from malwarebytes antimalware and superantispyware. Download links http://www.pcrisk.com/top-spyware-remove… Both mentioned software are free and does a great job at detecting and removing spyware. Download install and update before running a full system scan. If these mentioned software doesn’t find any infections download and install Hitman pro http://www.surfright.nl/en/products/ Run a scan.
