What Should I Write My Novel About?

I’m trying to write a novel and am slowly making progress I’ve written several chapters to several different stories, but i’m looking for a niche, that hasn’t been used to it’s full yet, to write about… Wizards went with Harry Potter, Vampires with Twilight… Can anyone think of a decent niche or angle for a good novel?

Well, you’re unlikely to find something that hasn’t been written about, but here are some things not seen often:
    Demons/Angels
    Sirens
Mermaids (you could take a really vicious angle on this and make them evil)
That’s pretty much all that hasn’t been overdone.

I am not even sure how this subject got bought up but a group of us got talking about an early 1960’s novel called Clockwork Orange, then later made into a movie. In the book/movie a fictional drug-assisted aversion therapy called The Ludovico Technique was used. Ludovico Technique is meant to rehabilitate violate criminals. If you are looking for something different and interesting this might help you out.
Like you mentioned….. Wizards went with Harry Potter, Vampires with Twilight…. In this twist using a different angle you can write about violence and criminals and a way of rehabilitating them.
Below at the Wikipedia site you can read about what I am talking about from the novel Clockwork Orange.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Clockwork…

Ummm, just so you know, just because all the other books are about vampires and yours is about, i don’t know, fairies, doesn’t make your idea original at all. There is basically no difference, and i honestly laugh at the people who defend there books like- “it’s nothing like twilight, twilight didn’t involve DRAGONS, duhh, faw shaw.”
A plot involving supernatural creatures is no better or worse or more original, based on the specific creature it talks about.
EDIT EDIT EDIT- I didn’t mean to be arrogant. But what i mean is, your “Twilight sequel” is the exact same thing, even if instead of vampires it is mermaids. Do you know what i mean?

    Vampires and werewolves are passe.
    Zombies are hot.
“Human Being Zombie,” (human being, being zombie) a psychological horror thriller about a zombie masquerading as a human being.
    Take it from there…
    Be my guest.

By your examples, I assume you are writing a fantasy book. You could try mutants, Demons, mermaids, gryphons, talking animals, or dragons. If none of these work, copy paste this link and read the page:

    Hope this helps.

You said you already had several chapters to several different stories. Pick one and EXPAND it. Happy Writing and Happy Holidays! 🙂

Angels and demons are coming up now, but if you want a “niche” how about make a new race of people or use superheroes!
