I am worried about my computer getting hacked. Is there any way anyone can hack me without me having to click a link or open a tainted email?
I never click on emails and I only visit safe websites. I have a malware scanner and I run once per day plus anti virus and I have all of my internet settings on high alert. I am also using Firefox.
Can people hack you and access your files without you having to click something?
If you click on a link it can download malware/spyware onto your computer very quickly. That’s just a danger of the internet. But I would say you are doing the most you can to keep yourself safe, I would not be over paranoid by it, but if anything seems weird make sure to scan often with the malware scanner (I recommend Malwarebytes)
Yes, it is possible, if you don’t have a firewall protecting you against certain types of Internet Protocol messages. These don’t need any action on your part at all. Once a beachhead has been established on your machine, it would be open to all sorts of mischief, from being keylogged to becoming part of a ‘bot net used for spamming or other malicious activities.
If you’re running Windows, bring up at least the Windows firewall, then download and install a decent free firewall.
Hope that helps.
