I’d like to build niche stores in wordpress and pull datafeeds from venders. I don’t have a huge budget, so customization and ease of use is important. Any suggestions?

Me too in the same thought but attaching a store to my existing website. I have tried using many plugins and found one simple plugin which gives good output for me. Its called Amazon PIP (Product-In-a-Post).
I have just made only one of the post. Problem is with the theme I feel. Before going into it just test it in your local machine. If you need real store like feel try Automattic and Wp-all import (Both comes around $99 USD). Automattic has no commission split-up but WP-all import will insert its tracking id of amazon randomly with some percentage.
