My mother did her medical residency at a New York Presbyterian Hospital, which is affiliated with Cornell(and during her time, was solely affiliated with Cornell). Does that make me a legacy of Cornell?
No. First off, NY Presbyterian isn’t just affiliated with Cornell. I recall that it’s also affiliated with Columbia. Not sure if there are any others… but it is clearly not exclusively Cornell’s hospital.
Moreover, residency is not really education, per se. It’s more like on-the-job training and practice. Your mother wasn’t really ATTENDING the university.
Hence, I’d say it’s not legacy.
