I’m writing a book (not gonna be main market I know!) mainly adventure stuff, how do I write it without it getting boring and monotonus?
just from my personal view
1) keep it simple but use clever words to shorten the length of descriptive sentences
2) keep reading the passage before the bit you wrote as to avoid making silly mistakes in sentence structure
3) imagination, take a minute away to think of the scenario your writing about to think how you will write it
just some simple things
Write something that no one else has ever thought of. Make it the most interesting, exciting adventure ever written. Always try to stay in the “active voice” instead of the passive voice that will bore your readers. End it so that you can always have a part 2 or 3 or 4/squeal.
Here is an example of writing about what you know…this is a true story about my neighbor…Wayne. He is 87 and comes to our dog park every day. He is a decorated hero from World War II and wears his Vetran’s medal hat every day so I asked him to tell me about one of his 13 medals. Wayne told us that at age 18 he swam across the Rhine River with 15 pounds of dynomite secured to his back. He made it across and the Americans won this battle. The medal is called The French Cross for bravery.
You could write an entire book about this man and what he endured for the duration of World War II and there after. (Example only)
Secret?
There is no secret!
Good books have been published all over the world, take your time off of your writing and read books written by other authors. Don’t just focus on mainstream, popular authors, expand your view – go to a local bookstore ran by a local man and find an old, dusty book in the corner and read it!
See how other people think. Another advice, read books by foreign authors that have been translated if you want to appeal to a big crowd.
And one last piece of advice. People are sheep – they will follow a good story.
To write a good book one has to be able to read it to themselves and be amazed… You can’t like it you have to really enjoy as it as if you are a new reader. Description is a must be be careful to not over describe, people in general have a short attention span and unless it’s sexual keep the description short with a bang. End every chapter as if it’s a cliffhanger…
Actually, I had a book recommended to me and if you want to know how to write a powerful book read every page of this book carefully and look at how he write’s it’s beautiful and amazing. The book is called:
Harmony Before Disruption
I’ll put a link below… you’re going to love this book.
Description description description. You HAVE to describe anything amazing and cool, but if somethings going to be a boring background piece, then dont go into to much detail. Throw in something in the beginning that seems small but actually turns out to be big, it keeps a reader intrigued.
1. Vocabulary
2. Viewpoint
3. Character construction
4. RESEARCH!!!!!!
