I mean generally will these positions at affiliated companies be at their local offices? I mean internships not co-ops.( I am little concerned about the transportation around campus.)

It really depends. Most often, the positions will be within the college’s region – but for example, internships offered via UMass Amherst, which is in western Mass, will be found 1.5 hours away in Boston, 45 minutes away in Hartford, 3 hours away in NYC, and locally. So it really depends.
