I have a tattoo of my little sisters name on my wrist, my older brother (he’s in the marines) told me that I wouldnt be disqualified as long as the tattoo isn’t gang affiliated, racist, too big, or inappropriate
Also I need to have a good reason on why I got my little sister’s name tattooed on my wrist (at least I think that’s what he meant) also my tattoo is not big its actually kind of small
One sure way to find out is to ask a Marine recruiter.

There are several hits from the marines website.
Your brother , being a Marine himself, clearly knows what he is talking about.
There ARE regs about tats, but he called it right. No racist, no gang, or offensive tats, anywhere, and nothing visible while in uniform…….(hands, face, neck, etc. )
a small wrist tat, should NOT be an automatic disqual.
As for the reason why you got the tat……….well, duh……..you tell me. You’re the one who thought shooting ink into your arm was a good idea. I’ll assume you had a reason….except sheer boredom.
When will you kids quit it with the dumb tattoo fad? Sigh….. A wavier might be needed due to the location. Be smart, no more please.
Here are the 2 lines from the USMC’s policy on tattoos. <>http://www.marines.mil/news/messages/Pages/MARADMIN029-10.aspx>
“TATTOOS/BRANDS ON THE HANDS, FINGERS, AND WRISTS ARE PROHIBITED”
“INDIVIDUAL TATTOOS VISIBLE IN THE STANDARD PT UNIFORM (SHORTS AND T-SHIRT) WILL BE NO LARGER THAN THE WEARER’S HAND WITH FINGERS EXTENDED AND JOINED WITH THE THUMB TOUCHING THE BASE OF THE INDEX FINGER.”
