I have an invitation for a belly dance on a stage. If you have experience please advise me about the dress? It would be at night.
First you need to think about the type of dance you do.

I keep recommending them and I’ve never bought a single item from them as I don’t like their style but others rate them.
If your aspirations are more Shakira style, then study photographs of her and try to put together a similar outfit.
For a fusion style, just fuse bellydance and the costume of whatever style you are fusing.
You can create wonderful costumes by haunting charity (thrift) shops and being creative with what you find.
General advice
Make sure all your bits and bobs are firmly attached (use dental floss for sewing on coins and buttons etc)
Don’t rely on normal bra hooks and eyes.
Test drive your costume to make sure it stands up to the choreography. Nothing is worse than making a last minute change and finding it snags your veil or showers beads under your bare feet.
DO NOT make a dance bra and let all the nasty normal bra bits show. No elastic straps on view, no adjusters etc. I can’t believe that some dancers sew a few bits on to a normal bra and expect to get away with it. It looks really naff.
Make sure your hip belt, if you use one, is women shaped. Hips are not tube shaped and a good belt has darts so that it hugs your hips and doesn’t slide down.
Avoid elastic, especially on the hips. Unless you are sylph-like, it will create nasty bulges and slip under said bulges highlighting them horrifically.
Test drive your make up. You need to go really heavy. Thinks about the lights. A red lipstick may fade to nothing if the stage lights have red tinge. Make sure it is red/brown. There are lots of good tutorials on you tube. Patrice is one of my favorites. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mADYNC4lE…
Don’t have silver or white eyelids – unless you want to looks like a zombie when you blink.
But don’t worry too much. A good dancer could wear a bin bag and look good.
Nice and I like very much for belly dance. If you have mentioned the place I could have come to see. Just kidding dear. Anyway for a belly dance I suggest you to wear a hip scarf necessarily and colorful dress for other parts as you wish. It would give more beautiful to your dance. Do a nice selection. I can just suggest you some beautiful colors here. Just have a look.
