If Religion Was Sold Like An Infomercial Would They Ship More Units …?

Religion is for the masses, Sandy. Playing games is much more fun (as long as the players are able for it). I was thinking back to some of the fantasy game books I read as a child. This was the first one in the series by Steve Jackson; “The Warlock of Firetop Mountain.”
The wizened sage beckoned us closer by curling his extended middle and index fingers back into his palm with rapid, impatient flicking movements. Most of the others in the group of 12 were reticent to approach, but someone had to pluck up the courage…
Sheepishly and looking towards the stony facade of the mountain we had half ascended, I took the first baby steps. He spoke soft and unrepeatable words to me that put me at ease, and calm ensued within the rest of the bedraggled crew. No-one ever said it was going to be easy, and we all knew this before accepting our invitations many weeks before…in the comfort of our own homes.
Higher and higher we climbed until the point of exhaustion. When we reached the zenith, the inclement weather descended. But the finish line was in view…or was it?
The sage pointed to a gaping dark hole in the mountain. “Enter at your own risk.” Well I had come this far, so I would be damned if I was turning back now. Some of the others whimpered and cried like children, but I coaxed them along.
Deeper and deeper we descended into this subterranean cavern. The only light was from the sage’s oil lamp. When we finally reached the end of our tiring journey, a new vista was opened up to us. The centre of the cavern was an enormous hollow; almost as if sculpted by the hands of a giant.
This was the place we would spend the next fortnight in complete darkness because the sage extinguished the oil lamp.
To cut a very long story short….
After fumbling around, falling over, and barely surviving the knocks of the first few days, a new sense developed among the 12 chosen ones. Although we could no longer see each others’ faces, and were forbidden from speaking, we knew each other by our unique heat signatures…
