Well, I wear size Small when clothes are sized that way, but in numerical sizes, I take a US size 2.
The problem with “Small” is that it could apply to two or three sizes. And a 6 is getting into medium range.
Buy the smallest size available, but be prepared for the fact that it MAY be too big. Possibly a good tailor could fit it to you.

I don’t recommend buying anything FITTED online. You need the exact waist size, not all size smalls fit everyone. A size 4 or 6, if you’re in between, that’s a wild guess! Have you watched Toddlers & Tiaras? One mother bought a toddler’s outfit for her toddler costing thousands of dollars and it arrived the day of her pageant. It didn’t fit on her, and she ended up exchanging her dress to another toddler in the pageant.
Example from YA! “I bought a strapless dress in the smallest size but its still big. Does anyone know how to fix this problem without taking it to get fitted right? And also I lost the receipt so I can’t take it back.”
As a seamstress myself, if you want yours altered, I charge $35hr. Just saying.
PP: I also suggest when paying for online purchases, don’t use Paypal, it takes just once to be a victim. I was and it took 3 years to get my credit. Use your Credit Card, always, they can help you if any disputes. Example from YA!: “On the 10th of November we returned a watch I had bought for my husband, it was supposed to be an automatic but when it was taken off stopped after a short while. I phoned to tell then and they said to return it for a refund, I know it reached them on the 11th November as I tacked it by the post office. the promised refund has yet to come after several email all ignored and a few phone calls now all I can do is contact the credit card company. so customers beware”.
AND beware of international shipping, they could add 3-25% extra fees, even if the price is cheap.
My merchant was from Texas, but the product was shipped from Hong Kong.
Other times, when you need to call Customer Service, they speak in foreign tongue and no one to translate them or JUST they don’t answer calls.
