I’m currently dissatisfied with my major and want to change it.
My strong subjects are English and History, average with Science, and terrible with Math (especially calculus), but I’m good with trig and algebra. I have an outside talent for art, but I personally don’t believe it’s strong enough to take to a professional level.
My personal interests include mainly video games and film, but I want to make it clear that I don’t intend to get a job that is heavily involved in or dependent on either industry. I want to have a career that I actually have a good chance of getting and keeping a job in, and would prefer something broad as opposed to niche.
Based on my strengths and personal industries what should I major in?
(I did post a similar question earlier, but I was too wordy and specific, so here this is)

I’ve been best friends with this girl since the seventh grade. (We’re seniors in high school now.) And we’ve never fought or had any problems with each other, but now I can’t seem handle being around her.
She’s always been smart and hilarious and beautiful and confident and creative and interesting. She can talk to anyone and have them like her in seconds, including adults. I admit that I kind of envy her a little, but I try not to compare myself to her. It’s just getting harder now that we have classes together. I was really good at English last year (highest class grade, essays used as samples), but we have English together now, and she seems to have taken my place there. We’re also in the same art class together. My confidence in my work has always been pretty low, but now it’s worse because my friend demonstrates a talent far superior to mine. Having her there makes me even less confident in my work because I can’t stop comparing my stuff to hers. It’s terrible.
It’s gotten to the point at which I’ve stopped talking to her as often, and stupid things she says or does make me overreact in anger. I’ll think she’s a know-it-all or an attention-whore or horrible things like that, which I know isn’t my honest opinion, but I guess I’m just jealous.
I’ve explained it to myself as us trying to occupy the same niche. We’re both artistic, good at English, we have very similar humor, we both like to look at the world in the same kind of weird way, we behave pretty similarly. When she’s there, she takes that personaity niche, and I just kind of let her and stay quiet and reserved. But today she was absent, and I felt so much more myself and talkative and outgoing, because that niche was there for me to take. I got to play her role.
I know, it sounds crazy. I have no idea why I find our similarities threatening.
What can I do? How can I stop feeling repressed when she’s around? How can I stop comparing myself to her?
Thanks.

Since I was a kid, i’ve always wanted art to be my main future. I dont have to choose now, i’m still in 11th grade. But by the senior year I want to be sure what i’m doing.
I’m considering to try to get into visual art. I’ve won some art competitions, in paintings, n graphic design. I love art.
But i’m also pretty good at biology. I always get at least an A minus on it. It’s my favorite subject. I have a thing for paleovirology. Mostly, my dad had devoted almost all of his adult life to his microbiological research for an organic product he just managed to get in the market. He said he doesn’t have anyone but me to trust his sort of ‘secret formula’, since i’m his only family. What would you think is the best?
Btw i live somewhere in asia

Hi guys,
I am moving to Fuzhou, China at the beginning of September and I was wondering if anybody knew of any martial art clubs in the area. I have searched on the internet but I think my lack of Mandarin is thwarting me 🙂
In England I have been learning Muay Thai and BJJ, but I would be happy to find anything to continue with this hobby. E.g. Judo/kickboxing/boxing/Krav Maga – in other words any type of Westernised, mainstream style instead of a niche Chinese martial art. But if there is nothing else, I’ll take it 🙂
Thanks in advance guys, I should really learn to read some Mandarin I guess.
p.s. As a bonus, I don’t suppose anyone knows where I could buy an acoustic-electric guitar in the area for cheap? 😀

Choose one of the following scenarios. All examples use masculine gender since our languages don’t have a neuter gender, but I mean this regardless of the artist’s gender.
1. Artist becomes famous very early on his career, and somehow manages to score a big hit very quickly.
However, the artist never manages to outperform himself, and so that early hit becomes his one and only magnum opus.
20-30 years later, and he’s only remembered by the works he produced during his early years. Since he has since unable to produce anything memorable, he’s doomed to replay all those old acts or songs and live from his past success.
He dies in utter poverty, alone and barely remembered at all.
SUMMARY: Early One-Hit-Wonder, resting on his laurels most of his life.
2. Artist has it rough at the start. Started from the very bottom, and didn’t show much progress during the start of his career.
But he never gives up. He always tries to improve himself, always coming with better works of art.
And eventually, the fruits of his hard work start showing up. He’s not young anymore, but he’s starting to become quite successful.
He produces his magnum opus very late in life, when other artists have already retired. Since his talent is widely demanded, he has no choice but to keep touring and displaying his art, with barely any hope for retirement.
He dies an untimely death at a very old age (it’s not a contradiction in this case), and is deeply mourned by fans worldwide, entering halls of fame and widely considered one of the best of his art ever.
SUMMARY: poor start, hard earned success, becomes a Living Legend.
3. He’s an average artist. While he’s successful enough to live a good life, he’s not a hall of famer or a worldwide renowned star.
However, one day, for some reason or another, he becomes memetic. The internets get filled by parodies, comics and videos mocking his work.
Thus, amazing a huge, unwanted popularity, a periphery demographic.
He could capitalize in that popularity, but that would mean he would.
– lose his previous fandom
– never be taken seriously anymore
– live the rest of his life as a parody of himself
or he could just ignore the memes and remain respected among his niche fandom and obscure elsewhere, and eventually disappear and be forgotten.
SUMMARY: average artist turned Memetic Star
So, what do you choose? Why?
Bonus points for whoever comes with the best example.
