The core message of OWS is that ‘Wall St’, namely big corporations
with huge amounts of money, is able to control actions of the
government in such a manner which shall benefit the corporations and
their wealthy owners at the expense of eliminating the passage of any
policies that would be beneficial to the middle class and the poor.
Most people affiliate the OWS movement with the Democratic party.
That is, people assume that most OWS participants are lefties.
With that being said, wouldn’t this suggest that
people generally assume that it is the leftie who cares more about having
a fair system while the right-winger has more of a ‘screw the little guy if
you have to because that’s what it takes in a dog-eat-dog world’ mentality?
Democrats are seen as being advocates of decency and fairness while
republicans are seen as dog-eat-dog types (as in screw thy neighbor and
just look out for yourself).
I’m sure that everyone agrees with my opinion…

English is my favorite subject; I’m really passionate about it. I work soo completely hard in it. My teacher makes us write a journal and I’m so proud of mine. I always in it and I’ve been told my work is insightful and such…blahblah. however, compared to this boy in my class, I am considered nothing by my teacher. He thinks this boy is the best thing since the invention of sliced bread. we are juniors and he has been in my english class since freshman year. He is very intelligent and definitly better at me in math and science; but not English. I know I’m boss at it. It’s the only subject I feel excited about; I feel like I’m in my niche. I’m getting really depressed that I work so hard and although I am comended, in my English teacher’s eyes, this kid is God. I don’t know what to do. It’s really bothering me. I guess its because I look up to my English teachers and now the fact that this one thinks I’m inferior to this boy is bothering me. I know in life there are going to be people better then you at things; that’s life. Yet, I know I’m a much better writer and have much better insight than this kid. This is not to be cocky; its just that english is my strength and his lie elsewhere. I’m so frustrated that I spend so much time making my journal perfect and now I feel like I’m just wasting my time. Please help!!!!! am I a psychotic; obsessed with being the best? or is it I legitimate to feeling this way?
ignore all my typos; im feeling lazy 😛

So I’ll try to keep this succinct: so creative writing is pretty much my passion/my niche in life and I took this class my freshman year of college three years ago with an AMAZING professor who resonated so well for me, he taught me so much and I definitely saw myself in him, and essentially, he just inspired me so much. So I started a novel around a year later after thinking about his class and the impact it had on me. Well the thing that impacted me the most was when he wrote on one of my essays once: “Do you write a lot? It sure seems to me like you write a lot, given your style.” he gave me many other compliments as well that just got me to think. So currently, I’m about 90 pages into this novel that I just feel it’s a story I NEED to tell would it be completely inappropriate if I emailed this old professor (he’s a published novelist as well, with lots of connections too) and ask him to be my mentor, or at the very least read what I’ve got so far in my novel and comment on it? It’s my dream and if he could be an advocate to make it happen that would be miraculous! He’s a nice guy too, but it’s still intimidating. He was once the writer in residence at a major university.
S would I make a fool out of myself to ask or no?? What are the pros and cons?? He probably doesn’t even remember who I am…

Bridger Bike Corp. manufactures mountain bikes and distributes them through retail outlets in Montana, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Bridger Bike Corp. has declared the following annual dividends over a six-year period ending December 31 of each year: 2005, $5,000; 2006, $18,000; 2007, $45,000; 2008, $45,000; 2009, $60,000; and 2010, $67,000. During the entire period, the outstanding stock of the company was composed of 10,000 shares of 2% cumulative preferred stock, $100 par, and 25,000 shares of common stock, $1 par.
For parts 1 and 2, round all answers to nearest whole cent. Enter a zero if no dividends will be paid.
1. Use the attached spreadsheet to reach the solutions for this problem.
Determine the total dividends and the per-share dividends declared on each class of stock for each of the six years. There were no dividends in arrears on January 1, 2005. Summarize the data in tabular form, using the following column headings:
Year Total
Dividends Preferred Dividends Common Dividends
Total Per Share Total Per Share
2005 $ 5,000 $ $ $ $
2006 18,000
2007 45,000
2008 45,000
2009 60,000
2010 67,000
$ $
2. Determine the average annual dividend per share for each class of stock for the six year period.
Average annual dividend for preferred: $ per share
Average annual dividend for common: $ per share
3. Assuming a market price of $125 for the preferred stock and $8 for the common stock, calculate the average annual percentage return on initial stockholders’ investment, based on the average annual dividend per share (a) for preferred stock and (b) for common stock.
Round to one decimal place.
Preferred stock: %
Common stock: %
