I have always had a dream home in my mind that doesn’t fit what I see in the general “cookie cutter” type of homes available. When the time comes to get my first home I’d like to design it myself or work with a architect who will help me get the home I want. This includes secret rooms and a very specific floor plan that is unlike any house I have ever seen. I’m not talking about any weird circular obscure layout, just something that isn’t so standard and boring like most track homes on the market today.
If I start designing the layout myself, picking out the correct hardware and doing all the research possible would that save me a decent amount of money?
Although I doubt I will ever get this accomplished because of money, I still want to try…and I’m hoping if I can get it out on paper as thorough as possible that it might just lead me closer to my dream home one day.
Opinions? Ideas? suggestions?

I been talking to this school for about 2 months and I know it’s pricy but wondering if its worth the money, I seen people call it a scam and all this bad stuff about it but I know 1 guy who did visual effects and works for the blue crew, and I know someone who went in for music and was a runner up for a Grammy last year, I herd 30 students worked on avengers, and 3 worked on skyrim. And they affiliated with WWE and worked with ESPN, herd students helped with last years NBA finals, I hear no one at the school got connections but with that track record could those statements be from people who didnt put the time in they needed to? The bad reviews I read was from 3-4 years ago so I’m wondering if there’s any current students or students that graduated can give any input

Should I tell my parents that I want to become a famous singer in a band?
I’m asian, and one stereotype has always been true in my family – that parents are extremely strict and makes you become a doctor, lawyer, etc.
My parents want me to become an accountant or a lawyer, but the thing is, I find those to be rather uninteresting.
I want to go to University for Urban Design (or Marketing as a 2nd choice) and start my own band there, and over the 4-5 years of school work to get my band on the charts. My backup plan is to become a military aviation officer (My parents disprove of anything Military, but it seems interesting) or actually work in my designated study field.
Should I tell my parents that while in University studying, my main goal would be to get my band successful while maintaining schooling and enlist in the army reserve corps?
Or should I just keep the whole strategy a secret from them? They’re not really the supportive types (according to almost everyone, I’m a good singer but to my folks, I’m good but won’t make it because the music industry “hates asians”, w.e. the heck that means 😛 )

I hate that there are so many areas of design now-a-days and I’ve found that many design students are afraid to look outside their niche. Frankly, I love all areas of design. This is why I’ve decided to go for a second major in Industrial design to go along with my major in graphic design and I seem to be doing well in both areas. When I tell people what my two majors are they just look at me like I’m crazy or they ask “what does graphic design have anything to do with Industrial”?
My question is, is it a waste of time and energy pursuing both of these degrees only to find that the job market is just as segregated as design schools are?
