I prefer to work for myself doing the same thing I did as an employee but now as an independent contractor. The pay rate would be the same. I simply do not want to follow their dress code, be affiliated with the company as an employee, be evaluated by their standards, but my own standards which exceeds their standards, etc.
How would this work and what would be the reservations if any when I inform to company of my preference to be an independent contractor?

My school has a navy blue and white dress code. No logos allowed, everything must be navy and/or white, skirts and shorts must be no shorter than three fingers above the knee (though I sometimes go a bit higher), spaghetti straps and halter tops not permitted, no gang affiliated clothing allowed, nothing too tight, etc. I need to know how to jazz it up because last year, my outfits were a bit bland. All relevent answers appriciated
