The example of desert locusts are used to demonstrate the following phenomena Except
a. Phenotypic plasticity
b. Intra-specific competition with time lag
c. Density-dependent dispersal
d. Interspecific competition
55. Kangaroo rat (Dipodomys merriami) reproduction is stimulated by plant growth (which is stimulated by fall rains). This represents an example of
a. Negative density dependent factors
b. Density independent factors
c. Positive density-dependent factors
66. In theory, when two species compete for exactly the same range of resources (i.e., have the same niche), ________ should occur
a. Predation
b. Mutualism
c. Character displacement
d. Stable coexistences
e. Competitive exclusion
67. A change in the behavior/performance of one species as a result of removal of its competitor is termed
a. Predation
b. Competitive release
c. Character displacement
d. Stable coexistences
e. competetive exclusion
71. Disturbance mediated coexistence represents what type of coexistence mechanism
a. Equilibrium mechanisms
b. Non-equilibrium mechanisms
c. Both
d. None
72. __________ is a species that is able to coexist with a competitively superior species in an un-stable environment due to its better dispersal and recruitment capabilities.
a. A predator
b. A dominant species
c. A fugitive species

5. Meadowfoam can be found growing in marshes and surrounding meadows. Bladderwort can be found growing in marshy habitats. When meadowfoam and bladderwort are found growing together, bladderwort is found growing in the marsh and meadowfoam is found in the meadow. Which of the following is correct.
a. The fundamental niches of meadowfoam and bladderwort are the same.
b. The realized niches of meadowfoam and bladderwort are the same.
c. The fundamental and realized niches of bladderwort are the same.
d. The fundamental and realized niches of meadowfoam are the same.
e. None of the above.
I am aware that fundamental niches are what the species can live in. And realized is what they species will actually live in.
So I would assume that the answer is “none of the above” since the fundamental niches are different since they both live in the same area normally. And since they both don’t occupy the same area when living together they are not the same.
Is this correct?

I’m doing an ecology project where we had to go out and take pictures of lots of symbiotic relationships and my teacher mentioned that snake holes were niches. WHY are snakeholes niches?
