Since I was a kid, i’ve always wanted art to be my main future. I dont have to choose now, i’m still in 11th grade. But by the senior year I want to be sure what i’m doing.
I’m considering to try to get into visual art. I’ve won some art competitions, in paintings, n graphic design. I love art.
But i’m also pretty good at biology. I always get at least an A minus on it. It’s my favorite subject. I have a thing for paleovirology. Mostly, my dad had devoted almost all of his adult life to his microbiological research for an organic product he just managed to get in the market. He said he doesn’t have anyone but me to trust his sort of ‘secret formula’, since i’m his only family. What would you think is the best?
Btw i live somewhere in asia

I want to go into the field of graphic design or multimedia. What I really want to do is design templates, forms, planner pages, calendars, organizers, statements, etc.
What should my educational focus be on for that?
What kind of designer does that particular niche? Is their a name for that?

I live in Philadelphia, PA and I’m trying to apply for state-affiliated colleges with this type of program and the only thing I could find was ‘graphic design’ and ‘computer science’.
I want to learn php, java, actionscript, e-commerce… Anything that has to do with building a website. It would be cool to also learn design too, but that’s not a focus. I’m more interested in fine arts than digital arts.
I read that I should major in computer science, but I’m not interested in programming robots like I’ve been reading. Please help me out.

I hate that there are so many areas of design now-a-days and I’ve found that many design students are afraid to look outside their niche. Frankly, I love all areas of design. This is why I’ve decided to go for a second major in Industrial design to go along with my major in graphic design and I seem to be doing well in both areas. When I tell people what my two majors are they just look at me like I’m crazy or they ask “what does graphic design have anything to do with Industrial”?
My question is, is it a waste of time and energy pursuing both of these degrees only to find that the job market is just as segregated as design schools are?
