I’ve been caught in a pretty vicious battle for a while now between writing exciting, entertaining genre stories like paranormal romance that I can just start from a blank paper and go without plotting out or putting too much thought into – and the extremely slow, hard work of trying to put together “masterpieces” I’ve been working on for years and that have grand, delicately-interwoven plots & messages…
Holy hell, that was a long sentence. Sorry. Anyway – got any advice for how I can solve this battle? I can’t figure out if I’m a literature writer being lazy and giving into easy caves or a fun genre writer who’s insecure about producing “lighter” fiction. It’s probably both, but that’s really not helping my focus. Basically, I’d appreciate any pointers on how to find my “niche”.

Yes. This is from Rite 1 Burial of the Dead in the 1979 Book of Common Prayer (the current version):
The Consecration of a Grave
If the grave is in a place that has not previously been set apart for Christian burial,
the Priest may use the following prayer, either before the service of Committal or at
some other convenient time
O God, whose blessed Son was laid in a sepulcher in the
garden: Bless, we pray, this grave, and grant that he whose
body is (is to be) buried here may dwell with Christ in
paradise, and may come to thy heavenly kingdom; through
thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

so i havent read quran for a while and life being kinda stressful i picked it up and read surah muminoon and nur. as i was reading verse 35 i pondered on the beautiful imagery in the verse.
“Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp enclosed in Glass: the glass as it were a brilliant star: Lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men: and Allah doth know all things.”(24:35)

(36) By men whom neither traffic nor merchandise
can divert from the Remembrance of Allah nor from
regular Prayer, nor from the practice of regular
Charity: their (only) fear is for the Day when hearts

Sadaqa Allahu Alalliu Al’Atheem
Imam Muhammad bin Ali al Baqir said:
“The houses referred to in verse 36 of An Nur are the houses of the prophets and the holy Imams.”
Thalabi, in the interpretation of this verse, relates from Anas bin Malik and Buraydah that when the Holy Prophet recited this verse, Abu Bakr stood up and asked, pointing towards the house of Ali and Fatimah, whether that house was included in the houses referred to and the Holy Prophet replied:
“Yes, and it is better than other houses to which this verse refers.”
Qutadah, an eminent scholar, says that once he told Imam Jafar bin Muhammad as Sadiq, while sitting in his company:
“I sat with many a great scholar, but my heart never felt the awe and reverence in any company it feels in your presence.”
The Imam said:
“Because you are sitting in the house glorified by Allah in the Quran (and recited this verse).”
