I’ve been seeing alot of forums lately dealing with this subject and as a non affiliated believer in God I am extremely confused. How can Christians say there is no proof for evolution (carbon dating of dinosaur bones, and rocks to see how old earth is) yet, there is no proof on how old the bible is….oh wait there is! CARBON DATING!!! You cannot say the bible is how ever so old by one standard, yet not let something else be true by the SAME standard. Then there is the whole big bang theory, did God not create the world in 7 days? So everything came together in 7days, how does this not correlate to the big bang theory, everything came together in 7 days. Then where besides the bible is there proof about souls, god himself, jesus…… I don’t understand the argument of ‘Oh well there’s no proof of that.’ when there’s no proof of god either -_-. I believe in both science and God, and science makes God so much more amazing. realizing all God put into this earth, how complicated it it, how atoms work and everything else makes God that much more stronger in my eyes. Not believing in evolution is only going to make your life harder, why not see it for what it is, Gods amazing creation? In my mind you CAN believe in God and science, please stop spreading this notion that you can’t do both around.

Religious affiliated people have been praying for God to magically intervene as he did when Jesus was around to end disease and starvation.
Meanwhile in the last century science has completely irradicated several diseases, made many more non-lethal, and come up with ways to to actually increase food production per capita with technologies since the 1950s when it was assumed then that humanitys growth would outrun food production. This was all made possible by applying scienctific laws and theories that thoroughly clash with the bible’s claims such as a 6000 year old earth or immediate creation of all animals in one day.
Maybe instead of going to church and praying every Sunday, the world would get better if people instead used that time to get ambitious and learn something relevant to the real world and make a difference that will actually help others as many bold engineers, scientists and inventors have done before. We gave the bible a shot for several hundred years and ended up with the “Dark Ages.” And the second logic, reason and the Enlightenment come along(things that scared the bible bashers of the day) we see the rapid advancement of Humanity and Civilization.

My answer is …yes (one or the other) what is yours based on the information below.
Okay God most certiainly could created the world 6000 years ago. God can do anything. If He created it 6000 years ago, He would have by need have created it old. Because a new planet would not be hospitible to life. It would have to be CREATED Old. with fossils in place, erosion in place. the light we see from other stars would have been created in place 6000 years ago streaming into us at speed. So universe could most certainly be only 6000 years old. This is not beyond God’s ability to be sure.
OR
It could be 6 Billion ( or 4.5 or whatever the number du jour is)
Genesis 1:2 allows for an old earth that was restarted new.
2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was[a] on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.
That word was, is actually not there in the original Hebrew, it a preposition that is implied by the tense used in the noun . In the some places in Genesis that same tense implication is translated as became so you could have:
And the earth WAS – BECAME without form and void
Implying that at the time of the narrative the earth was without form and void because it became that way….God in essence cooked the world for a few billion years getting it ready for man, and then wiped it out and started over. This would also explain all the gaps in the fossil records
Either way it was created, with an purpose and design. It did not blow out of an unexplained ball of mass, that magically spun in circles, that magically glomed together in stars which then fused the base hydrogen into every other element which then blew up again spewing this inorganic elements into space which again glomed together this times to form planets, in which these elements magically glomed together to form materials such as water and carbon dioxide, which formed in a puddle of in organic primordial ooze from which magically sprang (abiogenesis) a life for that survived to mutate into increasingingly more complex creatures for no apparent reason and no apparent environmental pressure to do so, surviving magically to form every kind of beast until one day its Pinnacle ..man was formed…who btw fills no ecological niche, has no enivromental function except to predate on all other enivornments and eco-systems….i think that is a fairy tale we can dismiss out of hand
So Christians what do you think? 6000 or 6 Billion?
Personally I am good with either.
