I’ve found my niche, I know now that between a major in clinical psychology and biology I’m in love with clinical psychology plus, I’m not smart enough or patient enough to deal with the analysis of inorganic molecules and subatomic particles. However while in a joint research initiative, I found that I have a deeper appreciation and understanding of research biology, more so than I do research psychology but that may be a premature conjecture however, Lab/clinical biology is not intriguing at all while clinical psychology is. What type of clinical psychologist should I become?

I’ve always wanted to be a doctor. So, I majored in Psychology (B.S.). I didn’t know I would like it this much. I just chose it, because apparently you can choose any major when premed. You just have to do the prerequisites, I was told. Anyway, my professor asked me to join her lab, because she says that I have a really good niche for psych. I agreed, but I don’t know now. I really want to be a doctor, but I really like psychology, particularly clinical and social. Both careers help people which is what I want to do. Is there a way that I could go to med school, become a doctor, and also do the same things that clinical psychologists do? Or no? I am a 19 year old sophomore btw.

I have been studying psychology ever since the second semester of college and I absolutely love it and have always planned on going to graduate school to obtain a masters in a specific psych field. The only problem is, I am graduating in three semesters… I need to take the GREs this winter and start looking into graduate programs but since I haven’t found my niche yet, I don’t know what kind of program to look for. For a while I was very interested in school psychology, but after taking an educational psychology and theories of learning class, I realized it wasn’t for me. Next semester I am taking a research course and I had always planned on choosing a topic related to the field I wanted to earn a masters in, because the independent study would show my true interest in it. But now I have no idea what to do. I’m lost, does anyone have advice? I know for a fact I want to continue my education in psychology, I just don’t know which field of psych.
I have taken a ray of psych courses… clinical, counselling, abnormal, personality, school, social, research, experimental, physiological, and many developmental psych courses. I enjoy most of them, but wouldn’t know what to do with a masters degree in personality psychology, for an example.

I think I should avoid mental health and psychology. I just seem to get into a fight in politics. And the recent questions in all categories look hard. So I need a niche. Helping with homework is no good because there are always several answers. Also if I need to consult the internet how do I find the question again?

I went into this course thinking I really wanted to do accounting and marketing and then biology and psychology on the science side, as this is what I was doing in high school (except bio). Now I’m really not sure as I don’t think they are for me – I have absolutely no idea :/. It’s just so confusing because I’m in my second year at the moment.. and I’m still just as confused, if not even more so, than I was when I first began.
I’m just wondering what my options are… I don’t want to leave the degree… because I might as well finish it. I’m just wondering what potential careers I might get from this? A lot obviously… but I’m sort of interested in running my own business one day. Beginning a niche market with something rather than being in the lab doing experiments side of things. I honestly don’t know..
Has anyone else been in my position exactly or at least a similar position? and manage to get through and find something they really liked?
