I am a 21 year old college student, and I am “just there”. My friends all play a part in the mixture of personalities and interests, but I have nothing. People often comment (even though it’s jokingly it’s true), on the fact that I have no talents. I do poorly in school, have a lot of financial stress, and it’s hard for me to focus on developing some sort of hobby or talent. I’m not athletic, I used to play trumpet but was awful and don’t play anymore, I’m out of shape, and all I’m good for is partying with everyone. What should I do?

You will have the most success marketing a product that you have some knowledge about. This knowledge of a specific industry or product will allow you to research keywords, develop content and attract potential buyers. Think of what you have an interest in and the money will come. A niche is only profitable in relation to your personal knowledge and talents. If this was not the case, everyone would be involved in what seemed to be the most profitable niche for the moment.

I’m having a difficult time figuring out what I’m good at. I’ve taken some strengths quizzes and they seem to give me a decent idea, but they are also somewhat general and if you know what the Barnum Effect is that’s probably playing somewhat of a role in taking those quizzes too.
I’m a 20 year-old college student so I should really start to figure this out as I need to start applying for internships and what not soon. I may also be a bit modest, so that could also be making this difficult. But I mostly think I just haven’t found the right niche. I do have a job right now, but I wouldn’t say it emphasizes or brings out my strengths as much as it does for other co-workers.
Where should I start in this investigation?

I went to college for exercise science. I am now in med school. I loved exercise science, but didn’t like the idea of being a personal trainer for financial reasons. So I went to med school. Now I find myself missing exercise science and using my own ingenuity and talents to enhance the performance of healthy athletes in creative ways.
Are there any careers like this available for a physician? Is there any niche I could create for myself? I am afraid there aren’t…I think my best option would be in a teaching role at a college with consulting gigs on the side, and maybe moonlighting at emergency rooms as a physician for the money. I would like to hear people’s ideas about how I can make the best use of my MD while also doing what I love.
