…the similarities between the most popular novels?
Let’s take Harry Potter, Twilight, and the Hunger Games. What do they ALL have in common? Their stories are a mishmash of two primary genres/major themes. That’s one of the secrets to their success (;
● Harry Potter—epic good versus evil fantasy and classroom setting/preteens and teenagers going though the worries of school
● Twilight—romance/forbidden and paranormal creatures (creating a sub-genre in its popularity)
● Hunger Games—dystopia and forbidden love/romance
Another common factor in the success of the named novels is that they all target to the young adult market, aided with the use of universally relatable themes.
Just thought I’d share this with everyone in case someone has a case of writer’s block 🙂

I’m seventeen, about to eighteen in twenty one days and have been trying to get a job since my freshman year! I’m a senior now and still without a job. I can’t understand why or how this is possible when my grades are excellent, I’m a VERY hard worker, I pay extreme attention to detail and only have two classes my senior year (so I get out at 10:26). I’ve tried applying to SO many places and I think I’ve applied to Chipotle almost twenty times now yet I have never gotten a call for an interview or anything! In fact, apparently I’m not qualified to work at Target or Papa John’s as a cashier or waiter. I’ve tried getting physical applications but all the places told me I HAVE to use the online one. Once, a CVS had a “now hiring all positions sign” up and I ask about it and they just tell me I need to apply online. I don’t understand how- and I don’t just apply, I look for opened positions- I can’t even get a job as a dishwasher at iHop or Boston Market. Is there some sort of secret to getting a job as a teen?

Right now I am a senior.
I started looking at schools like middle of my junior year. At first I felt REALLY overwhelmed because I didn’t really have any requirements like location or size. I was just looking at schools in my SAT/GPA range.
Then, all the schools started blending together so I narrowed it down to two cities, NYC and Philly. From there, I got NYU, Fordham, Barnard, Temple, and Drexel.
After visiting most of these (and also Villanova) only three are still in the running .. and they’re SUPER expensive ones and also target/reach schools.
So in the past few weeks I’ve decided to branch out and look at other locations. The thing is, I don’t really have a preference for hot/cold or anything so I’m getting schools basically all over the US.
AND NOW I’M RIGHT BACK AT THE BEGINNING! I feel so overwhelmed and there are so many schools and they all seem so much alike.
Me:
-3.67 GPA
-2050 on SATs
-I live in MA
-4 AP classes total and very heavy course load
-acting is my niche but not gunna major in it , but having really done many extracurriculars besides theatre
-not athletic !
What I want in my school:
-in a city
-large-ish
-good academics .. but that’s basically a given considering i’m dishing out 25k+ a year ??
-good nightlife/parties
Schools on my list:
1. McGill – if I got in, I’m definitely going here , but not sure if i can get in
-barnard (reach/target)
-carnegie mellon (reach)
-fordham (safety/target)
-villanova (reach)
-university of pittsburgh (safety)
-syracuse (safety)
-university of wisconsin /madison
-university of michigan
-university of georgia
-lehigh university
-university of texas/austin
-dalhousie
and more are keep being added ??? i don’t even know what to be filtering out. all of them seem very similar. it will be hard to visit now , i don’t have that much money disposable to cart myself around the US looking at schools, and my parents said to hold off on that until after i am admitted. but ahhh this is all too much
where do i go from here

Hey everyone, after a couple of weeks I finally have my site up and running. I was wondering if you had any tips on gaining people to your site? My site is: learnfootball.org and was hoping you had some suggestions. The people I want to target are ones that want to learn and become a better football player. All the help will be nice. Thanks
