Hello:) Thanks in advance.
About me:
I’m a legal full-time international college 19-year-old student in California.
I’ve made a website the other day and am wondering if I would be eligible to earn some money by signing up Google Adsense.
I worry about paying income taxes.
I don’t have SSN.
Is it very difficult to get one?
I don’t want to get into trouble.
Any advice is very welcome.
As long as you have your student visa with you you can apply for an SSN.
If you are a Non Resident alien with income in the US, You will file a 1040NR. The 1040 NR is for non resident aliens in the US that earn income in the US.
You can’t just walk into an office and apply for a SSN and then walk out with a card. If that were the case…Illegal immigration wouldn’t be a problem.
File the 1040 NR. any competent CPA can do that for you. It’s the easiest step for you and tax situation.
Exchange students can get ssn’s so you should be able to. You should be able to earn through Adsense, but not a regular paid job. Go to the local Social Security office and apply for a number.
