Nielsen January 2011 Nightly News Viewership averages (regardless of Network/Cable viewing – actual viewership audience):
NBC’s “Nightly News” topped the evening newscasts with 9.2 million viewers.
ABC’s “World News” was second with 6.9 million.
“CBS Evening News” had 5.2 million.
Fox News “Special Report” w/ Bret Baier – 2.05 million viewers.
The Fox Report w/ Shep – 1.7 million viewers.
According to a new 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair poll, CNN has edged out Fox News as the nation’s “most trusted” television news channel.http://www.tvsquad.com/2010/05/05/poll-c…
“It turns out that Fox’s coverage of President Obama has been even more negative than its coverage of candidate Obama: From Inauguration Day to Oct. 10, only 27% of Special Report’s comments on the president were favorable. That sounds like proof positive of Fox’s negative intentions. “http://www.forbes.com/2009/11/14/fox-new…
“Study finds Fox News viewers more likely to be misinformed on basic political facts”http://iowaindependent.com/49303/study-f…
Fox News competes in the Cable News category and dominates. The Broadcast Networks compete in a different category. You see, Fox News or CNN or MSMBC are basically news and opinion shows only. Networks have regular entertainment shows before and after their News Shows so that gives them a natural advantage. Also, you can receive Broadcast Networks for free. To get access to Cable Networks, you must purchase a subscription for service.
So, when you factor these things in, you find that Fox News gets about half as many viewers per news show as the Networks. That is rather impressive to me. Remember, receiving only broadcast networks can only watch broadcast networks. People who have subscription services get both broadcast and cable shows. Then, add in that there are fewer Broadcast Network News shows then there are Cable News shows and you begin to see how impressive Fox News numbers actually are.
Safe to say that given a choice most viewers prefer Cable News to Network News and that most viewers with Cable chose Fox News.
You cannot compare apples to oranges and get anything worthwhile.

Sorry Bob, but Fox News is the highest rated network. This is according to Neilson Company and is easily found out by any kind of search you want to do. They are followed by CNN.

I see someone has a Fox News obsession.
Waynes World was “PUBLIC ACCESS”….”CABLE access” does not mean anything.
Your rant is a fail.CBS and CNN also confirm the figures that show FOX is the number 1 viewed.
Fox News does pretty well because they aren’t carrying the water for mr. obama like the other media.
It’s still the best.
Watching the other cable news networks is like watching a bunch of Marionettes.
You sound butt hurt that they have higher ratings than all other cable news networks COMBINED.
Facts and Reality are poison to f0x culties.
Arrogance.
when you have a small package, you try to pretend its a big package
Gotta see your source for this rant! Got one?
