Christians/catholics, Why Be Offended?

I was having a discussion with a Christian affiliate, deploring him of his one-sided argument and ways, so I told him “Harry Potter died for your sins! Show some respect, muggle!” He thought this was way out of line, and I hardly see why. Time and time again people have told me that “Jesus died for your sins” why can’t I use the same response only in reference to Harry Potter. Both are true; Harry Potter did indeed sacrifice his life to protect wizards and muggles alike from Lord Voldemort, so why be offended?? I am not belittling your faith, we just happen to invest our faith in different venues, can’t we respect that?

*Sigh* An indication that good manners and right conduct are dying.

Hey asshole. I don’t like your face!

“Christians/Catholics”…that’s the part I find offensive. It’s like addressing your rant to “Americans/Californians”. Catholics ARE Christian.
EDIT: All Catholics are Christian, but not all Christians are Catholic. That’s not an opinion, it’s a fact. You could have addressed your rant to Christians, period. Catholics would be included by definition.

maybe because your implying Jesus is a fiction character just like harry potter?

Harry Potter fought Lord Voldemort. The sins of his fellow wizards had nothing to do with it. Take a simple course in Logic 101. Nice try troll.
TROLL ALERT TROLL ALERT TROLL ALERT

Must have been the ‘muggle’ reference. The ‘Harry Potter died for your sins’ shows how anything could fit in the claim you were referencing, but is the latter really necessary?

mish…. i love the potter series…. even got my folks into them so much that after the last midnight opening…. they have already bought their tickets (well our tickets) for the group of us for 15 July. they are 77 & 79! your comment of: Harry Potter just happens to be mine. makes one think that you have some sort of mental problem….. (stop….hackles down) harry potter is a wonderful example for children and adults of that there is no lie HOWEVER…. just like those who fall victim to the klingon’s or other MADE UP characters…. they are NOT real. what they can bring to you through the fiction in which they are offered IS real but the “person” is not. i think that is why people are fearful – i know i am – that you are unable to separate fact from fiction.
if i knew you well and you’d made this comment Harry Potter died for your sins! yes i too would be offended. harry potter may have offered a lot of good examples through JK Rowlings books but DYING for my sins….. THAT IS INSANE.
the character of harry potter is a wonderful example of bravery, loyalty, friendship, how making the choice to do that which is good over that which is right will ALWAYS will out in the end but he is nothing like my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ in any other respect. to say that he is makes one question your sanity….. again hackles down…. you asked.
potter is a good character and if you want to emulate his qualities…. so be it HOWEVER while you can not comprehend how your comment IS belittling IT REALLY IS SO….. realize if you can not respect someone else’s opinion…. they will not respect yours. you come across as very young and hopefully, in time, you will see how what you said was highly inflamatory and utterly disrespectful.
you are aware that 1) his battle was never about sins 2) everyone in the world is a muggle 3) harry potter didn’t die
