If You Were Going To Get A Gun Just As A Novelty, What Would It Be?

Something too big, too small, something unusual about it, fills an odd niche, whatever. I was looking at north american arms mini revolvers, and even though i have no use for something like that, i’m thinking of getting one just to target shoot.

As it turns out I have one of those NAA Mini Revolvers and I love mine. I have a Mini – Master with both the .22LR and the .22WMR cylinders. It’s a ton of fun – so it’s a great choice as a novelty gun.
However, since I already have one of those …
    On the cheaper side:
Kel-Tec PMR – I can’t think of a good reason why I need a semi – auto .22WMR with a 30 round magazine … but it is cool as heck!
Marlin Papoose – I’ve already got a couple of nice .22 rifles, and more that are part of my budgeted list. Plus, I don’t really do enough hiking and camping where I can shoot so I can think of no practical application, except for ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE!
    Mid price:
Kel-Tec KSG – So, again – why exactly do I need a bullpup tactical shotgun? I’m pretty sure it isn’t going to be legal in any 3 gun class. I probably don’t need it for home defense, and I still want a nice semi-auto tactical shotgun for 3 gun. So this is purely excessive. But … it looks cool! The concept is cool! Put a single lens red dot on that bad boy and it ought to be fun for something!
    High end:
Walther P88. So, at one point in the early ’80s apparently as I understand it there were several police departments in the US that were looking for new sidearms, and Sig brought over the P210, and so H&K came up with the whole P7 concept to compete – innovative design, really, really accurate and really cool features. So, Walther had to take a swing at it and came up with the P88. Possibly the first of the fully ambidextrous semi-auto pistols, and possibly the finest pistol Walther ever made. However, it turned out to also be really expensive as well … so expensive Walther couldn’t afford to keep making them. They also didn’t end up winning a contract, so there aren’t that many out there.
Last – who doesn’t need something in a caliber with a 5 in front? Desert Eagle? Naw, that’s just too crass. Smith and Wesson 500 Magnum? Naw just too ostentatious. So … how about an Alexander Arms in .50 Beowulf? ARs are cool, and there is almost, but not quite, a practical reason to have that cartridge.
So, it would probably be one of those.

I always had a thing for big-bore anachronistic rifles. Some years back I encountered a reproduction Sharps carbine in .54 caliber that was very identical to the ones issued to Union troops during the Civil War. A person would have been forced to “roll their own” paper cartidges, but I could just about imagine shooting one of those with a 90 grain charge of FFg black powder……………WHAT FUN !!

for purely novelty purposes I would say either a colt single action army or if money wasn’t as much of an an obstacle a semi auto copy of the mg43.
if money was no obstacle at all a full auto mg43, but I don’t think I’ll ever have an extra 40k just lying around.

  4. METROPOL says:

    I would like an SKS-M….. A paratrooper model…..
Not a Regular SKS But a shorter carbine model with a box magazine…..

  5. The Deadliest Mushroom says:

Probably this. It’s a pair of Ruger 10/22 rifles assembled together:http://www.cabelas.com/product/Gatling-G…

  6. Kid with a 12 gauge 10.0 says:

    Smith and Wesson 500.
Do I have a use for it?I could use it for deer or hog but I probably wouldn’t so It would be a range toy and something to show off.

  7. Jake says:

Mosin Nagants are really cheap and a piece of history. you can get one for under $100. And 8mm mausers are amazing rifles and are under 500.

  8. The Watcher says:

I would get a Bren Ten. The same gun Sonny Crockett used on Miami Vice.http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Bren_Ten
