I want to make an amazon affiliate website in a certain niche. Right now I have my landing page which is the products I would like to sell with a link to amazon when they click on “more info”. Im afraid I wont rank well because there really isnt much content at all. How can I add content and or rank well?
You need to create an online “sales funnel” of inbound links to your affiliate site (called “backlinks”), which must be of high quality (e.g. no “link farms” or other tricks). And you must provide unique, high quality content for your site – as “landing pages” for those inbound links.
To create your sales funnel, you need to do market research on the market niche whose problem will be solved by the Amazon product you are promoting.
1. Do Google searches on the product name and product type and look for forums and other content where users describe their needs and problems.
2. Develop a list of “raw” key phrases from your research. Key phrases with “crises” or “needy” words show an intent to buy right away, so get those for sure. They are marketing gold.
3. When your list reaches 30 key phrases or so, put them in an Excel spreadsheet. Then use the Google Keywords Tool to get suggestions for the best versions of your key phrases and rank them by number of searches per month and amount of competition. Identify your best ones as those with the most searches and the least competition. Now your raw list is a usable list.
4. Develop 30 articles, where each one is about only one of your key phrases and has at least 500 words. Do proper on-page SEO for each article’s key phrase. Each article must be added to your site as a WordPress page or post or a static website’s page.
5. Promote your site in the same forums where you did your research – where your niche market members hang out. Also promote it on the social networks, on the “web 2.0” sites (e.g. Squidoo.com) and so on.
6. If you want to understand how to visually optimize your site to increase profits, check out the free info on my Visual Marketing site.
7. If you can afford it and have read a book or two on how to do it, use Google AdWords PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising to get max traffic right away. Otherwise use free traffic and expect it to take many weeks or months to build to a profitable level. Don’t try PPC unprepared – it will cost you more than it makes you if you do it incorrectly.

9. Sounds like a lot of work – right?
It is.
Online marketing is not a “get rich quick” scheme. It takes smarts, patience, lots of learning and much hard work. But, it can pay off in a big way. Also, if you have the funds, you can hire others to do the parts you are not qualified to do or don’t want to do. However, (especially on your first sites) you’ll learn a lot more if you do everything yourself and only hire others after you achieve some success.
Hope this helps…
