Polygamy is no stranger to human history, but the practice is widely outdated nonetheless. There are however many remaining polygamist sects, some many generations deep. Regardless of religious desire, the practice is obviously highly detrimental to the genetic diversity of polygamist offspring. So my question is simply “Where do they keep finding these people, and is there a way I can learn this powerful mind control?” I would appreciate answers from practicing polygamists or experts of the various affiliated faiths.
LOL. One woman is more responsibilty than most men can handle. Polygamy is interesting in Mormonism because it makes women more servile than actual Christian doctrine.
A tough go, there, especially since it’s not true. But some fall for it. Some fall for anything.
Forgive me.
/Orthodox
Polygamy is illegal in the USA, means jailtime
These people would be Islam but not in the USA, so leave.
Only those who have not been married think this is a good idea. Other know that one woman/wife is enough for us to handle. And sometimes more than we can handle 🙂
No sane person would want more than one wife.
bless you.
You probably can’t except for a minority. Most people figure it would just be too complicated, too fraught with jealousy and stress. For one of the most intriguing attempts at a positive view of polygamy, I suggest “The Moon is a Harsh Mistress” by Robert Heinlein.
Where are they? They are outlawed in the U.S. Any Muslim nation will probably have them and the Africans have believed in polygamy for centuries too. But where did you hope to find them? It’s only the false religions that practice this now.
The fact that these are religious sects may be a hint.
Perhaps the holy books support polygamy or something? Have any prophets of that religion been polygamists? Well, no wonder people are convinced to imitate them.
i HATE polygamists, there arent enough women to go around as it is and these a**holes are taking 3,4,and 5
You go out and dig a hole and say you found some magical plates and say that you found what Joseph Smith lost and then you wear magic underwear and have 20 kids and say they were divinely born and so on and so on and so on. Joseph Smith pulled off the biggest hoax from history and tricked supposedly intelligent men. Just think! One of those may be the president of the US and we have to look forward to the fact that he is required to report EVERYTHING to the prophet so The prophet will know everything that is private and secret!. Everyone needs to read the Tanner’s book called Shadow or Reality? Sandra Tanner was the great great grandaughter of Brigham young and she and her husband wrote that book that exposes the lies of the Mormon religion
Watch this video about Romney. You will be surprised! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9djYmyumH…
Try this:
Premise 1: (a statement. This statement should have it’s ‘flexible’ words pinned down. Term A should have definition say… 3 in each premise. Not definition 3 in premise 1 and definition 9 in premise 2. A term should mean the same thing across your entire argument and, if you use more than one argument, that term should either be the same in all of them or the difference should be spelled out and not kill off your final argument.
Premise 2: (another statement)
Conclusion: (another statement)
Example:
P1: All dogs have fur.
P2: Jack is a dog.
C: Jack has fur.
Now, if ‘dog’ in P! means ‘furry quadruped’ and ‘dog’ in P2 means ‘man who sleeps around’, then your conclusion is screwed.

As for your basic question which was really “WTF is wrong with people who believe polygamy is OK?”.
1) it seems politically motivated. People generally talk about polygamy when they’re attacking Mormonism and these days they attack Mormonism in order to attack Romney. Generally.
2) I’m not sure I agree with your statement. Not completely anyway. I think that if polyANDRY is also accepted, it might work out. And I feel that the answer is really 6 way marriages. 2 old people, 2 middle aged people, 2 young adults. Replace as needed. Keep the wealth in the group. Raise kids as a group. I think it’s an interesting idea.
