Creative Writing Mfa? As Opposed To Non-creative Mfa?

Lets go over the pros and cons of a creative writing mfa.
First, “creative writing” is almost a redundancy, considering that all writing in itself is creative, whether fictive, poetic, or instructional. In essence, you may as well be getting a degree in “creative thinking,” seeing that all writing is more mental than syntactic, regardless of affective stylistics and the like.
All degrees or majors in academia require some level of creative thought, though we dont say we are majoring in “creative philosophy,” or “creative chemistry,” or “creative arts,” because its impled that they’re all creative.
Next, people always say that ‘it gives them a chance to devote a few years to reading and writing,’ as if they didnt have time before they started the mfa degree? Usually if you write and read, you do these whenever you are not working or gaining experience than may better serve your ability to write than writing itself. Its almost as if people need the officiality of the degree to either validate their efforts, or to materialize their desires – both of which are bad reasons to begin with.
Heres are some ‘creative’ facts about the mfa. For one, most mfa programs were started by other mfa graduates because they could not do anything else with their creative writing. You certainly cannot find work in other non-creative outlets, other than working in a bakery or waiting tables, or working for people who are evidently not creative.
So what is the real import of a creative writing degree? Besides pretension and narcissism?
Im not sure? It seems like a really really really bad idea in the 21st century. Basically niche poetry and prose and fiction is for other writers, but usually other writers are so blinded by egotism and self-reference that they cant appreciate other writing. Its a strange situation. I was going to apply to a bunch of mfa programs but after reading various college publications and examples of what they claim is ‘good,’ I went to law school instead.
Basically, I just want to know why anyone would want to subject themselves to this hyper-pretensious form of academia? And why should anyone take someone with a creative writing degree seriously considering the absolute garbage that is published today.

Advertising Affiliate Marketing On Twitter?

Okay, so I have the concept of advertising on twitter, which was the simple part, but how do you go about getting a decent user name?
Let’s say I was advertising for Nike, I wouldn’t just have a twitter account that said @nikerunning… That already exists… So how should I go about changing the name to something that works, selling what I’m selling, and not copying Nike?
(By the way, I’m not advertising Nike, just an example).
Anything helps!

Would You Continue This Business Or Give Up?

I started a carpet cleaning business in May of 2012. I spent over $3,000 on training and certification for carpet cleaning, fire and smoke damage restoration as well as water damage restoration. I spent about $3,000 on some entry level equipment. I spent about $1,500 in advertising only to get about $3,500 in sales, all ads in the local weekly newspapers, all 13 week contracts. Each paper used a different Google Voice number so I could tract the source of the calls. Three out of six papers led to exactly 0 inquiries. One led to a single inquiry and a $400 job that took too much time complete. I put in 3+ hours per day at the end of every day for 5 days. It was for a landlord. It was10/31 to 11/4 . He had 5 vacant apartments in his complex. After they were painted, I came in to clean the carpets. Originally I planned on them taking 2 hours each, but with 10 hour shifts subcontracting for someone else doing Sandy clean-up I was working slow and they were dirtier than I anticipated.
The person who I sub contracted about 100 worth of Sandy clean up has offered me a part-time job for $12.50 per hour, 2-3 days per week. It is over an hour commute to his company.
Quite frankly, 2012 was horrible. i have about $5,000 in my checking account right now that I can spend. I was just approved for a $12,500 business loan, that would require me to fund $2,500 of a $15,000 business plan. About $1,500 of that would go to marketing. I also had to promise to spend another $1,000 in marketing out of my own pocket. All I have to do is sign the papers. The loan is 84 months @ 4.5%. That’s just under $175 per month, not a big deal.
It will tremendously expand my ability to do work. It will give me a nice marketing budget. I don’t know if this will actually boost my business any however. The local economy sucks. A lot of money is going to make repairs to homes not covered by FEMA or insurance. It is hard to find clients. Our local unemployment rate is still going up. It is 9%. I have cleaned out more vacant apartments and foreclosures than anything else. Maybe that’s my niche. Problem is the foreclosure rate is slowing down too. To me, it looks like the economy is flat lining. That’s the worst for me. If it is going up, people spend money. If it is going down, foreclosures need cleaning. If the economy is doing nothing, neither am I. That’s where I am at now.
I could take this part time job as a sure thing. I could limp along with my business until it picks up or I find a better job. I don’t know if things will get better. Like I said, I’d actually do better if things got worse.

Books For A Teenage Girl?

Yes, yes, I have read all the classics, Harry potter’s, and Nancy drew’s, and ruby Redfort’s and all of the adventure, mystery, reality stuff, but now I need some fresh and new to read. I am quite a good reader and get through things quickly, so anything really. I am reading The Perks Of Being A Wallflower at the moment, and wondered if there were more things like that, or like’ The curious Incident of the dog in the night time’ by mark haddon.

Do You Have To Go To The Same Church As A College That Is Affiliated With To Be Accepted?

I have been very interested in the University of Findlay and it’s affiliated with the Church of God, I go to a Baptist or Methodist church if I go. Are they basically the same? Will I be rejected if I apply to them?
