I need a good book to read (something for teenagers) and would prefer something that isn’t tragically sad. (please do not recommend the twilight series. i read those in fifth grade and would prefer not to experience anything like that again).

I will give you some of the more obvious ones to start;
Harry Potter (J.K. Rowling) – Great series, you may have to work to finish the first couple of chapters of the first book and the fifth book is just boring in my opinion but the rest is gold, easy to understand and a great interweaving plot. I love the story and I feel for the characters, I have re read dozens of times.
Skulduggery Pleasant (Derek Landy) – A story about a young girl who discovers magic when her uncle dies – I just got the 5th book as a present and the first book was the first I ever read, page turners and easy to read.
The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings (JRR Tolkien) – These books you might consider more of slow starters they focus a lot on building the scene and setting a plot in place. You have to struggle through the first couple of chapters in the hobbit but then it gets exciting. Lord of the Rings is very slow for most of the first book but gets interesting. I would read the other two books first to give you an introduction.
The Chronicles of Narnia (C.S. Lewis) – A quintessentially English series with a great story line and really widens you imagination. I like not love the series but others do love it.
I don’t know if it’s a novel or not, and if it isn’t then it should be, but I think you should read You, by Charles Benoit. I loved the book and it’s my favourite, and a LOT of other people loved it too, according to all the enthusiastic reviews.
I think you might like Treasures of Darkness Treasures of Light by Geno Allen … Through the Dark Wood is the first novel in the series. It is EPIC… great for teens and more geared toward the classic fantasy lover… someone who appreciates a novel like Lord of the Rings. Here is the link : http://amzn.com/B00AE31PBG
It is so amazing… I can’t recommend it enough. Take a look. I would paste the description but my touch pad isnt working properly … 😉 Have a good one!
Don’t know what kind of stuff you’re into but,
“Wool” by Hugh Howey. (actually it is 5 short books in one)
the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger (A classic. The main character is a teenager reluctant to grow up)
Skulduggery Pleasant (Derek Landy), Vampire Academy (Richelle Mead), The MAzerunner(?), I am Number Four (Pittacus Lore)
These are some of my fave.
Paper Towns
Tree Shepherd’s Daughter (trilogy)
“Michael Vey” (2 books so far in series by Richard Evans)
A thousand splendid suns or the kite runner by Kahled Hosseini. They are amazing! Page turners 😀 and they’re best sellers
The Help, Heaven is for Real, Hunger Games and Twighlit hope i helped 🙂
