Just off the top of my head…
I don’t understand how this generation, with the entire musical universe a mouse-click away, seems so lost and clueless when it comes to finding good, substantial, meaningful, exciting rock (or other) music.
Music never gets better or worse; it is part of a continuum that goesback thousands of years. Radio and TV has gotten worse, thanks to the same handful of companiesowning all media outlets.
But for those who keep whining there’s no good music out there…you’re only busy missing it.
Because mainstream music is controlled by corporations that want to make the most money possible. If it works, why change it? The main market for mainstream music is youth. They’re the ones that listen to and buy the most songs. That’s why repetitive, fake, love songs with superficial lyrics and the exact same dance beat sell the most.
It’s sounds fake and repetitive because people are taking old garbage and adding new junk to it. It’s like digging up a fossil then reburying it with a murder victim. No one wants to go near that or today’s music, so just do what’s smart and stick with the good ol fossils and not the victim.
If that’s the case, don’t listen to mainstream music, listen to some artists who lost fans, depends on what genre you’re into, kris allen, david cook, etc. (since my type of music is alternative/soft rock)
The music is designed as such to sell like hot cakes. The Recording Industry Association of America & the IFPI are responsible for such tripe. The mainstream also vows to crush the underground.
