Homework Help Please? :]] (biology/evolution)?

A group of brown moths is attracted to a tree. The moths blend in with the bark of the tree and are hard for birds to find. This helps the moths blend in and avoid being eaten by the birds. In the spring the tree turns from brown and green to white as it produces hundreds of white blossoms.
Which of the following adaptations would be most likely to help the moth species survive?
A.An adaptation to fly higher. (< Im thinking its A.??)
B.An adaptation of white wing color.
C.An adaptation to eat tree leaves.
D.An adaptation to produce less offspring.
In the United States there are many types of rabbits. Four different species can have four different ranges or habitats.
In which range would developing white fur in winter most likely not be an advantage?
A.southwest states: Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado
B.southern states: Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama
C.northern states: Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Idaho, Wyoming, Minnesota
D.northeast states: Maine, New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Ohio
As the finches on the Galapagos Islands became more and more varied, whether due to available food sources or geographic isolation, what was occurring?A.predation
B.extinction
C.speciation
D.competition (I think its D..?)
Earth has undergone some catastrophic changes from time to time.
Which of these most likely explains why life on Earth continued following these catastrophes?
A.A wide diversity of species existed. ( I think its A..?)
B.Dominant species had a slow mutation rate.
C.Many species filled the same niche.
D.A strong species had many different characteristics.

  1. Cirbryn says:

1: B (So the wings would continue to blend with the tree.)
2: B (These are the states least likely to get snow, which would be the environment in which white fur provided an advantage).
3: C (By becoming more varied across different locations, they began to evolve into different species.)
4: A (The catastrophes didn’t eliminate all species. Those that survived produced new species and repopulated the planet.)

You are obviously very intelligent, but as a former teacher, it looks like you want people to answer your questions for you. This does NOT help you.
BUT, here are some ideas that might help you in your selections.
Questions 1: Note the use of color in the question. If a DARK moth is on a DARK tree, can the hungry bird see him well? No. If a WHITE moth were on a DARK tree, can the hungry bird see him well? Yes. He would become ‘lunch’. DARK moths could survive more frequently while the WHITE moths would decrease in number, and possibly go extinct. What change would be necessary for a moth if he wanted to HIDE in WHITE blossoms?
Question 2: Again, note the use of color. Where can WHITE rabbits hide? On BROWN dirt? Or in show? Which of these states has lots of BROWN dirt, and which has lots of WHITE snow?
Question 3: Darwin’s finches were varied, and ate different kinds of food. Some species had hooked beaks useful in eating fruit. Other species had pointed beaks good for eating insects. Still others had thick beaks for eating seeds. The question is not about the birds being eaten (predation) or a complete die-off (extinction). What is speciation? Read the PBS story (link below) for more information.
Question 4: May I assist you by elimination a couple of choices. If a dominant species was slow to mature, a quick, sudden catastrophe would catch them undeveloped and eliminate it. (If the world had a catastrophe that eliminated all children above 2 years, how many people might survive?) And if most of the species were in the same niche, and the catastrophe eliminated the niche, how many of them would survive?
