I’m checking this site and it says:
6) How do I know if I can take Traffic School?
The court should be able to tell you whether or not traffic school is an option and what schools are approved.
You should not get any points on your record if:
this is your first ticket
the court allows you to go to traffic school
Does this mean I will get no points on my record or do I have to take traffic school? I also checked the DMV site and it said the same thing about first ticket.
You will not get points if
this is your first ticket *AND*
the court allows you to go to traffic school *AND*
you attend traffic school
you have to take traffic school or you get a point on your record
The most tickets gets the most points and the one with the most points by thanksgiving wins a turkey
I would not use a school which cannot correctly state the law.
Traffic school can be available whether or not it is your “first offense.” You can take traffic school as many times as you are cited, EXCEPT that you can go only once every 18 months.
You don’t have to worry about the court “allowing” you to go to traffic school, unless you are cited for speeding more than 25 mph over the limit. In other cases (other than 2 point violations like DUI, hit and run, or going over 100 mph), traffic school is automatically available.
If you do not go to traffic school, a conviction will result in a point with DMV. If you do go to traffic school (which will add about $50 to the fine) there is no DMV point.
You should be able to take care of all of this online (unless you are a juvenile in a county with a juvenile traffic court). Go to this site and follow the traffic link for your court:http://www.courts.ca.gov/find-my-court.h…
