I’m a 16 year old living in Houston, Texas. My cousin recently committed a crime and claimed to be me. Is there any way I can request a restraining order against him? I just don’t want him and his stupidy to be involved in my life anymore. He’s a 17 year old with a criminal record who is gang affiliated. I’m an honors student who never gets in trouble and never messes with anyone. I just want to be left alone at this point. I really don’t wanna be dragged down with him. Please help.
You may need parental consent because you’re a minor, but a restraining order would only keep him away from you, it doesn’t stop him from getting in trouble and pretend he’s you.
If your cousin is also living in Houston, Texas then you definetly should request a restraining order. I don’t think that a restraining order would change anything though. I hope that your parents/guardians and his parents/guardians know that he’s using your name.
But how can he pretend to be you without him getting caught? Do you two look alike?
You both have different identities. If an officer comes kncoking on the front door of the house you live in, show him or her your Drivers License or any proof of identification.
Since you are a minor, you will need your parents to do this in your behalf. Since you are dealing with family, it’s a sticky situation. Talk to your parents about wanting a restraining order and finding out what else you may need to do. He also can be charged with identity theft since he claimed to be you during a crime.
