The image of heaven, a society in the clouds with angels and harps and the like is a common motif in pop culture, great works of art, and Christian culture in general. Parents tell their children that Grandma is up in heaven, watching over them and will be there when they die.
Hell, too, has been portrayed as a firey, subterrainian realm filled with tortured souls subjected to any number of punishments. Satan is depicted as a red skinned demon with horns and a goatee. People talk about how child molesters and serial killers will burn in hell as soon as they die.
Yet, the Scriptures are not consistant with these images. I suspect much of this imagery comes from pre-Christian traditions, but when did they become authorized by the Church (if indeed they ever were)? If not, how did the perception of the afterlife in such terms come to be so widespread?

Where Does The Modern Christian Concept Of The Afterlife Come From?

The universe is much vaster than the normal 10% brain use reveals. There are things that cause more than the normal 10% brain use. For an example, if the common deck of playing cards represents the whole universe, only the ten of diamonds represents what psychiatry calls “reality”. This symbolism comes from a book written by King Solomon called “The Keys of Solomon”. Where, the ten of diamonds is called “malcuth ha assiah”, the tenth, and lowest, sephiroth of the physical world. Here is my experience:
They are also ruining the economy to trigger an elimination of the America
as we know it, so they can round up, and exterminate everyone who knows too
much. They caught me once. In 1959 my buddie and I met a homeless banished
ex-lodge member. He told us all the big secrets. In 1962 I wrote them in a
high school term paper, got a 98% for it, graduated with honors, and joined the
Army.
Meanwhile, the instructor of that class sold my term paper in the term paper
black market, the wrong people read it, they hired detectives to hunt me down,
and they zeroed in on me in the Army. They gave me Hell, the Clockwork Orange
treatment, by large doses of LSD, while being forced to watch horrible films of
human torment.
But before doing that, they bragged to me how powerful they were: the modern
“conspiracy theory”. Before the modern conspiracy theory, the “conspiracy
theory” was that rich Jews controlled the world’s economy. I wrote a twenty page
report and mailed it to the John Birch society, in 1972. Then the John Birch
society published what I sent them which became the modern conspiracy theory.
The Clockwork Orange treatment I was given, by large doses of LSD, went
much further than they expected. Not only did I live the torments of all the
people in the films they showed me, I lived the times, when I saw them, of every
person and animal I had seen, even in the movies and on TV. After that life I
found myself back in time, back in Valley Forge Army Hospital where it happened
again, but, I also body switched into the bodies of all I had seen in that life,
for the periods of time I had seen them. Then the life after that, I was able to
remember some of the mistakes I made the last time around.
On September 17, 1970 I got stung by a bumble bee, while I was deep in the
forest. I am allergic to bees, and soon I passed out, waking up, what seemed
instantly, six hours later. This turned out to be a great blessing, for the next
time around, after another life time, I woke up back where I had passed out from
the allergic reaction. But, I had great mind power there and used it to defend
myself, but later, got so much mind power that my every thought manifested as my
reality, and I couldn’t handle it. I ended up body switching again, and found
myself back in Valley Forge Army Hospital, and started again from there.
This series of pairs happened 36 times, giving me an existence as who I
am, for over 5000 years, by going backward and forward in time so many times.
This was done to me for printing in a term paper what a banished lodge ex-member
told me, which can be put in medical terms today in one sentence,
“VAGAL STIMULATION IS AS EFFECTIVE AS LSD”.
So, even though I was threatened to be put in Hell permanently, each time,
I have done everything in my power to spread these secrets. Here is another
example: We are drawn to the probability timeline resonant to our thought, by the
attractive force of inductive resonance. Vagal stimulation wakes up the brain to
more than the normal 10% brain use. This means 10% brain use at any one time,
like, an MRI shows the most used parts of the brain by patches of colored light,
but, these move around, so that we average 10% brain use, if we are “normal”.
But, with 10% brain use or less we must earn what we get; 20% to 29%, an
appropriate ritual will get us what we want; 30% to 39%, writing down what we
want will get it; 40% to 49%, saying what we want will get what we want: “If you
have the faith of a mustard seed and SAY to this mountain move, it shall be
moved”, you go to the timeline where the mountain is elsewhere. But, 50% is the
tipping point to every thought manifesting as your reality.
Immortality of the soul originated in ancient Babylon, where they were among the first civilisations to bury possessions with their dead to take with them to the afterlife. This pagan religious teaching influenced future civilisations such as the Egyptians and Romans.
Its interesting to note that an accurate understanding through using the oldest available manuscripts reveals that the bible does not teach that the soul is immortal. The notion of Hell is not a bible teaching, but early christianity when translating the bible into latin decided to replace the hebrew and greek words for “grave” with the word hell, thus altering the meaning of certain bible passages. This is just one example of how many christians churches have adopted pagan teachings with their own with a view to converting more, but not accurately following what the bible actually teaches.
Most of what you mention are things mentioned in the Bible. I think a lot of what you are talking about is found there.

As for a firey Hell, we get a hint of that when Jesus is talking about Lazarus after Lazarus died and went to Abraham’s Bosom. The depiction of a red goateed Satan, I am not sure where that comes from. But I imagine that the plays done in the days of the Inquisitions and when extracting indulgences found that useful in the Roman Catholic church’s propaganda.
edit: By the way, the idea that child molesters and murderers are automatically Hell’s children is not a biblical one. Anyone at all is forgiven for trust in Jesus Christ. Not one of us are good enough to make it by morality.
Cool, someone who actually at least sometimes adequately studies scripture. You are so utterly rare on the Earth.
Such distortions happened over time. It is relatively easy for things to spread. Everything relates somehow. However, such also mean things need not be seen as so unreachable to correct to some degree in the world. You would be amazed how powerful the truth can be in even anyone, even you. My Lord Jesus Christ was not called “the light of the world” for no reason. Neither are them who the spirit of him are in called “the light of the world” for no reason. Think on all those things you have found in the truth of the scriptures compared to what people think of them or anything else. How much could those things alter the world we live in if they wre the better known? Think that because the scriptures say the world will wax worse and worse, that’s what need be? Do you see anything of the truth of God in the scriptures that make rules to limit the Good of God? Just because the world will worsen, does not mean things can not trend for the better. There is no part of either “All Good, or “Almighty” to not understand. By all means, know the Mercy and the Power of it..The world has no power by which to stop them who find their Identity, in and at the Hand and Own Investments of The Almighty God.

victims, so Christ Jesus died to give us life, 1Cor.15:22-28,51-53,
Rom.5:8-17, he did not die so that we can have life to be fornicators,
blasphemers, liars, steal, murder, or be the worst kind of people, but
so that we know what a bad shape we are born in, how bad thing can
happen to good people in this life, bu it will all be worth it in the life to
come, Rev.21:1-5, in the new heavens and in the new earth, it takes
awhile to learn about this and that it is after the 1000 years reign of
Christ Jesus .
It’s more like these images aren’t consistent with the Scriptures. When people don’t fully understand something, their imagination takes hold…now that’s consistency.
