From the Quran ofcourse.
I like these two:
” Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light is like a niche within which is a lamp, the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allah guides to His light whom He wills. And Allah presents examples for the people, and Allah is Knowing of all things.
(24:35)”
And this
” Or [they are] like darknesses within an unfathomable sea which is covered by waves, upon which are waves, over which are clouds – darknesses, some of them upon others. When one puts out his hand [therein], he can hardly see it. And he to whom Allah has not granted light – for him there is no light.
(24:40)”
Surah nur is one of the prettiest in my opinion.
My favourite verses;
‘And hold firmly to the rope of God, all of you, and do not be separated. And remember God’s blessing upon you when you were enemies and He united your hearts, then you became with His blessing as brothers; and you were on the verge of a pit of fire and He saved you from it; it is thus that God clarifies for you His signs that you may be guided.” – Surah Aal Imran 3:103
“Whoever saves one life it is as if he saved the entire world and whoever takes a life it is as though he killed the entire world.”
This is probably the nicest verse, but it was originally in the Talmud so I don’t think it could be classed as an original Quran quote.
‘Verily, that which is with God is the best for you, if you but knew it: all that which is with you is bound to end, whereas all that which is with God is everlasting.’
(al-Nahl 16: 95-6)
“Who will loan to Allah a beautiful loan which Allah will increase manifold? Allah alone can decrease and increase wealth, and to Him you shall return” (2:245)
“Those who believe, and whose hearts find rest in the remembrance of Allah: for without doubt in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.”
Surah Ra’d 13:28
And, Allah described His Prophet as a blessing bestowed on us saying: “Certainly there has come to you a Messenger from amongst yourselves, grievous to him is your suffering, ardently anxious is he over you, to the believers he is compassionate and merciful.” (9:129)
And My Mercy embraces all things”. (7:156)
