31: More people were killed than in any other war. With the introduction of the Maxim Machine Gun and deadly chemical warfare alongside European commanders trained in the traditional form of command (charge, hold or retreat) the death tolls of WW1 were unfathomably high.
32. Americans did not want to get involved. The United States considered the conflict an entirely European problem and their involvement was unnecessary. We did, however, invent the Maxim Machine Gun and sell the design to both sides. (In hindsight the war would’ve been a lot faster if we picked one side to support.)
33. Sinking of the Lustinia. The German assault of a pedestrian cruise ship carrying U.S. passengers is what drove the U.S. into the war. (And coincidently why it ended soon after lol).
34. An end to secret diplomacy. WW1 started with a single assassination triggering multiple declarations of war from allies who secretly allied with the nations involved. A network of tight strings that finally snapped.
35. Millions died and European economies suffered. Most of all the German economy. The depression they suffered is what allowed Hitler to rally the nation into WWII.
36. War guilt clause angered Germans. They had limits on their military and had to pay reparations to Allied nations. That’s piss me off too.

39. Russia surrendered to Germany. Technically they pulled out of the war because the Czar was no longer in power. I don’t really no if “surrender” is an accurate word.
40. More self rule for the people. The French kinda chopped a lot of heads off though, and communists kinda let power go to their heads. Our revolution (The U.S.) wasn’t perfect, but I like to think we did a little better.
