I am a junior from Detroit, Michigan. I was wondering if any body had some answers/advice for me and my quest to get into west point academy.
I have a 3.76 GPA, having aquired all A’s and A-‘s up to and including my first semester of Junior year.
I am attending the Summer Leadership Summit in the upcoming months at West Point.
I recieved a 30 on my ACT (31 math, 30 science, 29 english, 30 reading)
I play baseball,(just made varsity), and played football freshman, sophmore, and will play senior year.
I am a member of the National Honor Society and actively involved in my church and it’s various activities. i am also a member of a church small group.
I am wondering if anybody with knowledge of the school can help me by informing me of how good my chances are of getting in at this point. I understand this can be very opinionated but any help is much appreciated. Also any advice in activities/oppurtunities i should take hold of is very appreciated. IF you do somehow have an affiliation with the academy and/or were affiliated with it. please let me know. thank you!

So I applied to be on Jr staff at a camp this summer, because a friend of mine has been on staff there before and said it was awesome. I filled out the application, gave out references, have experience working with kids and lifeguarding (which is what I applied to do. Lifeguard and or counsel). My only issue is that I have never been to this place before, and currently don’t know any staff. My church is also not affiliated with it. So I’m wondering if that would hurt my chances a lot or what?

It seems like if I want to have any real success in promoting my own self-serving agenda, I need to affiliate myself with an important-sounding cause. Should I maybe claim to be a Christian and appoint myself the head of a church? Because there are so many little sub-factions and stuff within the church, no one really knows what all Christianity entails anymore. So even if they call me out, I can just dismiss them as infidels and Minions of the Adversary.
y’all see the parallel now? isn’t “feminism” (descriptive, not prescriptive) getting a little cultish?

Would you ever consider sending your child to a Christian private school if it were the only private school within 50 miles?
We live in a town of about 18,000. There is one public elementary, middle school and high school. There is also a Christian private school (K-6 only) that is affiliated with the local Catholic church. It is on the church property and for many years was ran by nuns. You no longer have to be Catholic to attend.
It’s a very good school, classroom size is 10 to 24 students. They have excellent test scores. I am an atheist and my husband is agnostic. Our daughter is now 3 so we have 2 yrs to decide. I am doing research on this school and all students must attend mass weekly, learn about religion and pray 3 times a day. We have taken our daughter to church maybe twice. The religious aspect of the school would be new to her. This school seems to be a much better school than the public elementary, which has suffered a lot with budget cuts in the last few years. My coworker works fulltime at this school and I don’t like what she has to say about it.
I am just seeking opinions of other atheist parents. Thank you.
