Hello,
I am a 16 year old male looking into starting my own business, preferably clothing ranges. I have already got research done for products i.e. T-shirts and designs and have seen several suitable companies which will print my products, however i am slightly stumped when it comes down to the legal sides of things. I am still in school (Will be leaving in 12 days) and currently studying business and hopefully in college too.
The main question i would like to ask is how old do i have to be to set up a business in the clothing market? How would i set up my bank accounts, as i do not know if i am old enough? I know about book keeping, account keeping etc as i learnt it in my spare time, i just have no idea on some legal requirements.
If anyone can answer them questions and perhaps add more legal requirements if you know of any (Uk citizen) i would appretiate it alot! Thankyou for your time!

I’m kinda looking for some cool vintage clothing because i’m tired of wearing what everybody else wears (e.g. victoria’s secret, aeropostale, abercrombie, hollister, etc) So far the only places i can think of are thrift stores and flea markets. I’ve been to many thrift stores before and most of the time I don’t find much of anything besides t-shirts with sweat stains… I’ve never been to a flea market and I’m not really sure if there are any flea markets were i live (suburban Ohio). Anyways, if you have any suggestions on where to find cool vintage clothing–like the real stuff, not just a name brand that says its vintage. Anyways, thanks for taking a look at my question đŸ™‚

I watched part of this documentary about how second-hand clothes from the US end up in Africa. Apparently the Salvation Army doesn’t even unpack most of their clothing donations, they SELL them to dealers in Africa who mark them up 400%. This industry has put almost all of the domestic clothing manufacturing out of business and a lot of people who had those skills are out of jobs, many of them gone from hand-making traditional clothing to selling second-hand US clothes at markets. Would people still donate to the Salvation Army if they knew what they were really doing?
Not to mention the whole “we don’t hire gays” policy but that’s another story …
