When I entered a company haphazardly some time ago, it seemed to me that I was going to get hired. However, there was no training given or mentorship given to me whatsoever, yet people there kept on talking about me making mistakes and holding back salary or promising some kind of financial security or protection whatsoever. However, it was tentative and not even carried out over the weeks.
I was intrigued by the fact that the company policy and mission statement (it’s a non profit group) was more about helping the environment and goals of the company with a very tightly knit attitude of cooperation with colleagues, mutual respect and working with a sense of duty and obligation. I had only one person half heartedly dump all this kind of talk on me so I worked without pay for some time. I was mostly a believer in the officially outlined mission statement and it was emphasized by a few other people (actually by some in only one department).
A while later, I’ve seen a few odd things happening hear and there. Such as people blabbing to the sub manager about mistakes that people made, throwing others under the bus, coworkers spying on each other to keep tabs on their secret career advancements or promotions, etc. I think some of them also consult the competing company to check personality profiles or details about others to get a competitive advantage in this group. What’s kind of worrying is that when I spoke to some people in the movie/marketing department who were longer in this field, they said that usually human rights complaints are swept under the rug, that they strip you down to almost nothing with the amount of service that you have it in you to provide, and that you would most likely be hurt in more ways than you can imagine. Some others also said that it’s not supposed to be an “idealistically fun” type of work because it’s just tedious labor.
I’ve encountered a few problems in the past and think that perhaps my main problem is that I haven’t really “cracked” the way the “game” has been played. If I knew the real state of office politics or how things actually worked, I wouldn’t be making the same mistake again. Yet some people from my department keep on emphasizing the mission and policy objectives again and again but I don’t see it happening or if I act based on those things, I screw up.

I don’t fit in with my peer group. I cant fit in. I have behavioral issues, and I cant just look n find my own niche and fit into place. So most would see me as childish. I can talk about stuff, but that does run out. So I’m socially awkward. Due to this, I AM happy when I get invited to places and am WELCOMED. But it seems mom gets the ridicule. People wonder y she didn’t raise me right. When people see me, they don’t think any thing’s wrong with me, and when they see these issues, they blame my mom. It’s not her fault. Most in my peer group are wives and moms. I’m not either of these. In our culture(dint know if this is common in american culture), all the women gather in the kitchen, and find something to do(this happens whether there’s a lot or a little to do, or if the women outnumber the tasks to b done). I find that I’m always in the way, so I stay away. I usually mingle with kids, because I figure it’s better than staring into space. But of course, that does raise eyebrows since it’s WEIRD. I’m not trying to b noticed, I just want to fit in somewhere. I figured hanging out with kids(I can relate to them since I grew up in the states), I have more to share. But with adults, I’m more of a nuisance than a help(I’m really slow at stuff too). Even if a party’s at MY house, ladies find a way of ushering me out of MY own kitchen(because I slow them down)…so they take over my task. And if I do yell at them to go away, again, mom gets the ridicule, and I get yelled at for not being lady-like. There’s no winning here(ok, I don’t yell, I just leave, but only once did I yell at an elderly lady who wasn’t my mom n get praised for it).
I don’t ask to be included in social settings, but I guess folks feel bad for me or something, so I get invited, n since I have nothing better to do, I go…it’s fun too. But the above mentioned things are the problems. Plus, the kids do seem to like me, so if I withdraw, they’d wonder y and want me to come. It’s not like I’m best friends with any kids. They know I’m around their parent’s ages. But still, they seem to enjoy my company. No, there’s nothing sick going on, we’re all within eyesight n earshot of the others(which is y mom gets the ridicule for having a childish daughter n not raising her right).

A while back I moved from Wyoming to Oregon for a job. I don’t have any family in the area and no friends. I became friends with a coworker and thought things were looking up. We would go see movies and just hang out. She went through some tough stuff and I was there for her. Finally I asked her what was wrong and she told me that I needed to learn to back off. So i did. i was pissed and found out that she only wanted me to be there for her and not the other way around. I was even more mad. but I avoided her like the plague. Suddenly i was getting shifted to other units and one day went to the union to find out what was going on. The cops were there and questioned me on a bunch of stuff that I never did. I was served about a week later with a temporary restraining order. I still had no idea what the heck was going on. I was told by a supervisor that I needed to get rid of the job quick because the upper management was going after me and my license ( I am a nurse). Still no idea what was going on and why this was happening. Now I am homeless and jobless living off my aunt because I can’t find work and she is taking me to court for stalking when I left the area got rid of Facebook and deleted her and anyone affiliated with her number off my phone. I don’t know what to do. How do I deal with this?
