I do not know enough information nor would I trust a recruiter to give me a good picture of what I may face to draw a good conclusion about what opportunities I could be presented… I have a passion for physics, blowing things up, guns, programming and engineering. I have absolutely no desire to be the man behind the iron sights pulling a trigger, but if there is some way to get involved in some R&D with the military and I was given some realistic information, I would have a much firmer basis for what path I wish to follow, being non-military affiliated or performing some kind of engineering under subjects I am greatly passionate about.
I simply wish I had a source of honest information lacking the patriotic propoganda that the advertisements for the army and the recruiters could try to press into my mind.

I am currently recruited to going into 74D (CBRN) leaving for Ft. Leonard Wood to attend BCT and AIT there from March 14th, 2010-sometime in August. My main goal however, and what got me to sign, was my desire to serve in PsyOps (or MISO…still can’t get over the name change, lol) largely due to my 20 years professional b/g in marketing, negotiations, and language (Scandinavian languages thanks to family, and I have studied Russian and Japanese off and on for about 5 years). My last company was a FOX News affiliate to I owned and operated, with most of my background in business and broadcasting, as well as print media. You can probably see where my attraction to 37F comes from. 🙂 I also recently left playing semi-pro football to give you some insight on my physical b/g, although running miles is something I still getting used to having mostly only running sprints for several years and I am aware there are physical demands as well in PsyOps from what I’ve learned. I am 38 now (turning 39 in Feb.). My question to anyone who has actually served closely or in 37F is the reality of me making PsyOps (1) and (2) what is the likely-hood of me serving with my boot son the ground for a few years and then transferring into a role that would serve in an embassy somewhere or the Pentagon? The reason for this question is b/c I’m blind to the fact I am getting older and would be in 40’s by that time and not sure how long someone my age could serve in the field and could see serving better in a strategic role later on, rather than tactical, although 9th BN looks tempting. I would like to switch over to 37F ASAP after completing AIT for 74D and ‘no’ I do not have a degree.
Also, I am looking for constructive answers here or feedback. As anyone joining PsyOps, you cannot just join as an enlistee, you have to enlist in an initial MOS before going into PsyOps to explain my enlistment into 74D. After which, I’ve been told I can immediately try to enlist into 37F and try to get accepted as it is a Spec Ops unit, everybody has to be accepted first. Correct me if I’ve been told wrong here, but please, be someone who actually knows what they are telling me, preferably someone IN 37F. Thank you in advance. 🙂

It’s silly how much I hate my sixth form. It’s at the same school I’ve been at for the last 5 years, which doesnt help because it’s mostly full of people I dont like and couldnt trust as far as I could throw. Im not sure if it’s the atmosphere that “I dont actually HAVE to be here”, that is making me so unmotivated and depressed that I actually am there.
So, some backstory. I’ve taken Maths, Physics, Economics and Modern History as my courses. I got straight As in my GCSEs, with one A* in History. I would like to go on and study history further, and hopefully take it up as a career, but from what I can gather it is very much a niche industry with few career opportunities. My parents basically demanded that I took either maths or english as an A-Level, which I suppose is fair enough as my only priorities where economics and history at the time of choosing. I hated them both but didnt find maths too difficult so I went with maths, thinking that such a subject would give me a good spread and open up more options. Oh, was I sorely mistaken. It’s the most ridiculously difficult thing I’ve ever attempted. As I said I hate maths anyway, so couple that with the fact that I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to use all these stupid equations and theorems at any single point beyond my A-levels means I literally cannot be arsed with it 1% of the time. The lessons just pass me by and go way over my head, I furiously scribble down formulae that are totally meaningless to me. I have a modular exam after the holidays, the thought of having to teach myself the whole thing through christmas makes me want to give up. I dont know why I never asked for help, maybe I thought it’d click eventually like everything at school has throughout my life, maybe it was because i was too damn embarassed to come clean and admit that I cannot understand the first thing about AS mathematics.
On to physics, well, I decided I should probably choose a science, for no other reason that it will look good on my CV. In both phsyics and biology I was only a few points off an A* so it was a tossup between the two, although I went with physics because I thought it’d accompany maths well. Again, BIG mistake. It’s just a million more equations that you have to memorise, and again, I have no desire to use these things ever again.
Economics and history are OK. But right now, halfway through my first year of college/6th form, I just feel like the next year and a half will be the hardest and most depressing of my life…But then, after that…UNIVERSITY. YIPPEE, more work, but guess what? DEBT. YAY. Dont get me started on what I imagine i’ll be doing for the following 40 years of my life, I just have no clue whatsoever, the outside world is just one huge scary monster I want to hide away from. I want no part of it. I’m not good enough at maths or physics to get a wellpaid job in science, I’d imagine that even if you’re good at economics (one of the best in my class) you’d need a good maths grade to get a job related to it, and history has few career opportunities. My parents (mother in particular) are really putting pressure on me to do anything other than history for this reason. I suspect they are simply protecting me from a bleak future of unreliable employment.
Anywaaay, like I said socially I have the appeal of a bumblebee to most people, and now my grades are failing. I just have no idea what to do. If I hear the words “work harder” again I think I’ll lose the will to live. I just dont know who to talk to and so I cry for help on the internet.

i turned 20 3 months ago and i’ve never really had a girlfriend before, i’ve kissed and had sex but never really a relationship.
I think that was mainly because when i was younger i didn’t have a desire to have one but now i really really REALLY want a girlfriend.
i moved to Maryland 3 months ago from New Jersey and i haven’t really met anybody here, i’m going to community college and really focusing on school and working cuz i’m trying to get into a good university by next school year. I don’t do anything on the weekends except study and skateboard.
But i’m SICK of that, i want to go out and party and have fun!
are most people my age single? and also what should i do to get affiliated with people who party?
any advice would greatly be appreciated

To me the only thing holding the loosely affiliated tea party patriots together is their desire for spending cuts and lower taxation.
Lets face it the tea party is a collection of dissatisfied GOPers fed up with broken promises and compromise, libertarians, younger conservatives who are mostly concerned with the economy and the fiscal side of things, a few independents sick of the crap, and also a few opportunists.
How will going back in the direction of the religious right not split the tea party/conservative vote???
*This question does not reflect on my personal views as much as it does the reality of the voting public in my opinion.
