i’m a 22 year old guy and my dad is an accountant. he is all about making money, and seems to have forgotten about his children.
all was seemingly “fine” with me and my dad; i was going to college like he wanted, until one day i realized i was naive and i quit college.
he isn’t following his dreams, and he didn’t want me to either.
anyways, i am currently working, living at home for the past 2 years, and he doesn’t have any consistent communication with me.
his father was an alcoholic and was never around, so i don’t know if that plays into it, but he’s a horrible father when it comes to building relationships with your sons.
we never talk about personal stuff ever; he has never been there for me EVER to discuss real issues in life… he just doesn’t show real interest in my life.
i am currently struggling to follow my dreams and find my niche in life, and it seems like he won’t help me out because he never followed his dreams..
almost like he’s secretly rooting for my failure because he knows deep down that he has wasted his entire life.
it’s almost like he’d rather worship his job and money, then have a authentic relationship with his kids.
his whole life seems built on his pride..
thoughts?

I’m not sure how he even sure what the pattern is. Please help 10pts
I think I should indicate why I am here in Birmingham, since you have been influenced by the view which argues against “outsiders coming in.” I have the honor of serving as president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, an organization operating in every southern state, with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. We have some eighty five affiliated organizations across the South, and one of them is the Alabama Christian Movement for Human Rights. Frequently we share staff, educational and financial resources with our affiliates. Several months ago the affiliate here in Birmingham asked us to be on call to engage in a nonviolent direct action program if such were deemed necessary. We readily consented, and when the hour came we lived up to our promise. So I, along with several members of my staff, am here because I was invited here. I am here because I have organizational ties here.
But more basically, I am in Birmingham because injustice is here. Just as the prophets of the eighth century B.C. left their villages and carried their “thus saith the Lord” far beyond the boundaries of their home towns, and just as the Apostle Paul left his village of Tarsus and carried the gospel of Jesus Christ to the far corners of the Greco Roman world, so am I compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond my own home town. Like Paul, I must constantly respond to the Macedonian call for aid.
Moreover, I am cognizant of the interrelatedness of all communities and states. I cannot sit idly by in Atlanta and not be concerned about what happens in Birmingham. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. Never again can we afford to live with the narrow, provincial “outside agitator” idea. Anyone who lives inside the United States can never be considered an outsider anywhere within its bounds.
You deplore the demonstrations taking place in Birmingham. But your statement, I am sorry to say, fails to express a similar concern for the conditions that brought about the demonstrations. I am sure that none of you would want to rest content with the superficial kind of social analysis that deals merely with effects and does not grapple with underlying causes. It is unfortunate that demonstrations are taking place in Birmingham, but it is even more unfortunate that the city’s white power structure left the ***** community with no alternative.

so i’m 22 and friended this 20 year old on facebook last August (2012).
one day i was just surfing the “find friends” tab on facebook and found her. her profile picture was stunning, she was a legit Christ follower, and seemed pretty cool.
on a whim, i friended her and emailed her.
so yeah, since august we have emailed back on forth on certain occasions.
she has lived in the same town her whole life, and really wants to get out and find a solid community of Christians. i feel the exact same way.
last week we discussed how God is opening doors in leading me to adventurous ministries, and this week asked her how this new church went that she visited… she responded conscientiously.
just like me, she hasn’t found her niche in life..and is interested in ministry like me. she has friends for sure, but not really any Christian friends.
OK.. so #1 we have talked on and off since august,
#2 she seems like someone who could join me in adventurous ministry…
would it be weird to suggest that her and i talk on the phone or skype??
(and FYI she lives California and I live in Wisconsin)

Seriously…. how does one do it.
I graduated in June of last year with a Psych degree. Good grades, I made Dean’s List. There seems to be no job out there for me. After 6 months of relentless searching and hearing literally NOTHING back from anyone, I had to settle for a full time $12 an hour nanny job to pay the bills. However, I’ve been told that this won’t do me any good since it’s not earning me any experience to lead to better jobs. I agree, but don’t know what else to do.
I do not want to go to grad school (my friends and I have already learned that college these days is a total waste of money, won’t make that mistake twice), but got a Psych degree thinking it was a good well-rounded degree and that employers would appreciate the fact that I understand people. I was wrong, apparently.
Please…. tell me where you would go from here?
