I have a friend who wants to become a FBI, during high school he the principals frequently thought he was a drug dealer, but that is about it.
He also got questioned by officers for hanging out with people in a gang, but NEVER got put down as an affiliate on his record.
So would this cause him not be able to get a law enforcement job, he was a suspect, but never got charged for anything

Voters in Arizona’s Maricopa County have reelected Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the face of Arizona’s controversial immigration enforcement law.
With 82% of the county’s precincts reporting, the self-proclaimed “toughest sheriff” in America won a sixth term convincingly with 53% of the vote.
Arpaio, 80, is best known for vigorously cracking down on illegal immigrants in his county — moves that won him admirers in and outside Arizona but also created a fissure dividing Latinos and law enforcement.
He was one of the state’s most vocal supporters of SB 1070, which requires law enforcement officers to check the papers of anyone they suspect is an illegal immigrant. The Supreme Court struck down other provisions of the law, but ruled that the so-called “show your papers” provision was constitutional. Immigrants however, are not required to carry their immigration papers on them at all times.
“I would like to get together with the Latino community, but they scream at you and I just can’t sit down” with them, Arpaio told a local NBC affiliate in Arizona on Tuesday night. “We’ll let them get their senses, we’ll talk and I’ll let them know what I do… I have to get back to the Latino community without them screaming and yelling and we can talk about it.”
Arpaio’s career is apparently coated in Teflon, with his candidacy surviving a federal investigation into corruption, a lawsuit into civil rights violations, and findings by Maricopa County investigators that his department misused $99 million in jail funds.
Democrat Paul Penzone received about 42% of the vote and Independent Mike Stauffer had about 4%.
Meanwhile, in Pinal County to the south, openly gay Paul Babeu has won a second term as sheriff.
With 72 of 102 precincts reporting, Bebeu had 53% of the vote.
Bebeu, a Republican, held off three primary challengers during the primary and Democrat and Independent candidates Tuesday night.

I am starting college this fall and i will be double majoring in criminal justice and psychology. I am hoping to get into law enforcement, starting with a local police department and then hopefully working my way up to federal law enforcement. With that said, it’s not exactly a secret that law enforcement jobs are becoming harder and harder to get so i am keeping my options open. I just want to know what majors are desired by the USMC for someone seeking a commission as an officer. If the job market for law enforcement doesn’t improve in the next year or two, I am going to consider changing my path and trying to earn a commission into the Marines. Any help or advice anybody can give is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Does this look like Obama has the border secured & how soon before Holder orders arrest of law enforcement, they are NOT suppose to chase illegals, per Johnny Sutton ,Aldrete-Davila that has led to the imprisonment of Ramos and Compean were told they cannot chase illegals. Now will Holder and Mexico order the arrests of law enforcement ?
In other Border Patrol activity in the Tucson Sector since Wednesday:
Nogales Station agents apprehended a Mexican man Wednesday after he illegally entered the country. Alfredo Enrique Martinez was convicted in 2004 for lewd lascivious acts against a child. He faces federal prosecution and removal.
Naco Station agents arrested a Mexican man from Guerrero after he illegally entered the United States on Wednesday. During processing, agents discovered the man is affiliated with Los Vatos Locos street gang. He faces federal charges.
On Thursday, Naco Station agents attempted to stop an SUV that was reported stolen out of Phoenix. The driver fled and was pursued by the agents, Cochise County Sheriff’s deputies and officers with the Sierra Vista Police Department and Department of Public Safety. Sierra Vista officers were able to stop the vehicle and detain the driver and passengers. Five illegal immigrants were turned over to the Border Patrol. The driver remains in DPS custody to face criminal charges.
Douglas Station agents apprehended a 25-year-old Mexican man Thursday for illegal entry in to the United States. Agents found the man is affiliated with the Sureño street gang and was deported in 2008. He was held for prosecution and removal.
Nogales Station agents apprehended a 27-year-old man from Oaxaca, Mexico, after he illegally entered the United States on Thursday. During processing, he admitted to being a member of Sureño street gang. He faces federal charges.

Posted on 01 July 2011. Tags: Answer, best route, boatload, Career, enforcement, job, loose ends, minnesota tc, police academy, police force, security companies, swat officer, swat team member, timeframes, way
I know there’s a boatload of questions about SWAT, but it seems like nobody ever gets a really good, thorough answer. So, I’m hoping this can tie up those loose ends, as well as answer my own questions.
I’ve recently made a major change to my life plan regarding what profession I would like to pursue. I would like to become a SWAT team member. I understand that’s a big goal in itself, as the common route is to become a police officer for three or so years and hopefully get selected for SWAT from there. There are other routes, such as military, but I think that for my goal it would be best to get a college degree and then go into a police force. This way, should I decide SWAT isn’t right for me, I can try to get selected for other things like the Secret Service, various jobs at security companies, or go back to school and get a job working for the FBI.
My first question is what degree should I get? Clearly Law Enforcement would be a good option, but the university I attend right now doesn’t offer that major (University of Minnesota TC). Are there other majors that you can get that would set you up for a career as a SWAT officer, or would it be better to look at other colleges that have Law Enforcement?
Getting the degree is important, but where do I go from there? I’m under the impression that you get your associate’s in Law Enforcement and then apply to a police academy. Upon completion of that you go on to working at a police force and apply to SWAT school after the required/recommended amount of time at that police force. Correct me if I’m wrong, and any guidance would be appreciated. Also, maybe some timeframes as to how long each takes? Associates is generally 2 years, but what about Police Academy and SWAT school?
My next question is what does the job market look like? I’m not afraid of a little competition, but if it’s next to impossible to get a job in a police force, and more importantly a position on their SWAT team, then I wouldn’t want to go down that road.
How can you transfer to different police stations? As with most people, I would like to go out into the world and succeed. Moving somewhere like Detroit and getting on their prestigious SWAT team would be amazing, but are there requirements to do so?
Most of all, is SWAT a desirable career choice? This question will be difficult to answer if you’ve never worked on a SWAT team, so I don’t expect most of you to have an answer. About me: I love helping people, and I don’t mind working incredibly hard to achieve my goals. I’m fit and continue to workout, and I’m a good marksman. I also work well with teams, I have exceptional social skills, and I am intelligent. Things I want to get out of the job: I want to do something where, at the end of the day, I can know that I helped someone. In addition, does this career provide a “livable” salary? It’s hard to put a dollar value on something, especially if you really enjoy it, but is this something where I can provide for myself and a family someday?
One last question – does SWAT have anything against tattoos? I don’t have any yet, but I would really like to get one. It’s for my dad who is battling Diabetes, so it is very important to me. The only thing standing in the way of that is if my career choice doesn’t support tattoos, so if anybody knows that would be really cool.
If you made it all the way through that lengthy question, I’m glad you took time to read this and hopefully help me out 🙂 If you have any tips or answers I’d really appreciate you sharing. Also, any tips about Yahoo Answers would be nice – this is my first ever post haha. Thanks!
