CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – Hackers affiliated with the Anonymous hacking group obtained more than 150 police officers’ personal information from an old website for the West Virginia Chiefs of Police Association and posted it online.
–
William Roper, the association’s president, told the Charleston Gazette the FBI is investigating. Roper is also the police chief of Ranson, W.Va.
Roper said a group called CabinCr3w hacked the website Monday and obtained the home addresses, home phone numbers and cellphone numbers of current and retired police chiefs. The association has a new website but members’ information was stored on the old website’s database.
“It’s a tragedy someone was able to hack our website and obtain information that is useful to our members,” Roper said.
In an online message by CabinCr3w addressed to “citizens of West Virginia,” the hacking group says it has been monitoring cases of police brutality.
“We are here to remind you that we the taxpayers pay your exorbitant salaries, and those salaries of your officers,” the message says. “Your job is to protect and serve, not brutalize the very people that pay your wages. Muzzle your dogs of war, or we will expose more of your sensative (sic) information.”

I am worried about my computer getting hacked. Is there any way anyone can hack me without me having to click a link or open a tainted email?
I never click on emails and I only visit safe websites. I have a malware scanner and I run once per day plus anti virus and I have all of my internet settings on high alert. I am also using Firefox.
Can people hack you and access your files without you having to click something?

I recently applied for a job and received a call back via email since the email my computer has been acting pretty strange for instant it runs slow and before it didn’t. The person said he/she was affiliated with Flextronics and I looked into it and it was a legitimate company with offices around the world. So the “hiring manager” said it was a work from home job. I’ve never done a work at home job before so I couldn’t tell you what to look for and what not to look for. I called the local company but never received a call back. Since communicating with the hiring manager my computer has been acting strange and recently I received a pop up on my screen detecting a virus with a countdown attached it scared the heck out of me. I did a virus scan on the computer and it didn’t detect anything im afraid because i think its an undetectable virus. Also they have my address and telephone number through my resume. Also i’ve been receiving strange calls on my cell from an 8888 number a 000-000-000 number and an unavaliable call several times since applying. If someone out there knows about this please help me. Thanks
Oh and the “hiring manager” goes under Rechard Dearman or Richard Dearman and Flora Houston
