My coworker, who I have to sit next to all day long everyday, can be very annoying.
For one thing, she doesn’t want to be here. She hates this job and makes no secret of it. Even our supervisor, the head of HR knows she has been looking for another job for over a year.
She tells interns, new hires, current employees and even applicants–anyone who will listen–what a “horrible” company this is.
She makes snarky comments all day long like, “what do these people get out of interning here?” even though it’s actually a really good company and would be a great opportunity for any marketing student.
All she does all day long is complain and fill out applications for other jobs online.
In spite of all this, she still wanted to be flown across the country and put up in a hotel to represent the company at a convention in Las Vegas and was FURIOUS when she was not awarded the opportunity to go. She feels like the company owes her something.
Just today, she complained to IT that her computer was slow. So they brought her a new one. My computer is slow too, but they don’t have any more…so they gave the only one they had to her. But she is still not happy, because, “the screen is so small, and my vision is not the greatest…” and she’s really mad because the IT guy wouldn’t illegally connect her NEW laptop to her gmail account (it is blocked due to company policy,) like another IT guy did for her with her old laptop.
She refuses to do any bit of extra work around the office, so any time extra work is needed, our supervisors know to have ME do it, not her. But then when there’s an opportunity for overtime, it is OFFERED to her as a courtesy, since extra money is involved.
She also eats hard boiled eggs every morning–about 3 of them. Which stink. That’s annoying but any time someone walks by and mentioned the smell, she’s in denila that it’s coming from her eggs.
And to top it off, she views me as her competitor so she takes any opportunity to make slightly bitchy comments when others are around to assert dominance and show off.
Any coping strategies? I want to keep the peace…

I am planning on starting a nonprofit organization, but I need help setting it up in various ways (the business aspect, graphic arts, web development, etc.) I would really like to get this help for free as I have no money and I know you can’t accept tax-deductible donations before all the legal fees are paid, the paper work is done, and the organization is accepted by the government.
So I know I can just ask for volunteers, but I think I’d be more likely to get quality help if students could gain credit from it. Does anyone know if colleges or high schools would accept an internship from an unincorporated organization? Or, could they even get retroactive credit once the organization becomes incorporated? I tried to look it up but I couldn’t find anything. I think I’ve heard of single people hiring interns (like authors or something), but I’m not sure if they need to be affiliated with a company. Thanks in advance!

I am interested in FX movie makeup as a possible career path and was wondering if it was a good job(if you have experience with it haha)? Also, some colleges that major in this specific job and approximately the yearly salary? Oh! and if you could name some companies handling FX makeup that would take on interns or people with a degree in it that would be wonderful! I live in Ohio so I know I would probably have to move to a state that is more affiliated with movies and all but I am actually pretty good with creating cuts considering I’m only 15 and have had no real training lol here are some pictures…. http://twitpic.com/5ortks and http://twitpic.com/5ort0a they are the same cuts but different angles… thanks so much!

After canceling the 3 accounts requested by RichFox Media and having discussions with customer service reps, in my opinion yes, RichFox Media is a legitimate company. They do exist and are doing business. Not for “hiring,” but for using Intuit Web Service, eFax service and iVoice’s service to get “customers” or as stated in their Craig’s List posts “Interns” with a promise of $20 an hour, to “sign up” for the respective companies free trial services. They also require prof of signing up by requesting your login in information which is to be setup though a specific links supplied by RICHFOX MEDIA to “track” one’s progress which makes me believe their is more going one then a possible “intern” opportunity.
Beware. I believe this is nothing more then RFM funneling people though an affiliate marketing campaign/program disguised as an “internship program” that is being touted as a “marketing company in disguise”. Totally true and quite genius as they are saying upfront and in plane english as to what they really are. Do they have the 3 prospective entities in development what they say they do on their website (http://www.richfoxmedia.com/)? Who knows. But one thing is for sure, if I were you I wouldn’t, no matter how desperate you are for a job, sign up with RichFox Media and potentially help get them paid though affiliate marketing.
