Engineering Degree Outdated?

I’m about to graduate with an engineering degree from a large state school but have found my niche in tutoring. I am VERY successful with my tutoring and making almost as much as I would being an engineer, but have more flexible hours and easy work. So what I’m trying to ask is could I still get an engineering job say 5-10 years later if I had no experience being an engineer right after college or would my degree be obsolete because of the length of time? I obviously plan on keeping up with current engineering software (solidworks, excel, mathlab etc..) so would this atleast get me an entry job or would I be too outdated?

Resume Question. May Be Offensive To Some.?

Hi all, I recently graduated college with a bachelors in advertising account management. Since then I have been vigorously applying for jobs in my field. After applying to about twenty places, one finally called back, a newspaper, and I went on the interview and was offered the job of advertising sales representative.
However the company is a niche newspaper thats concentrated in the gay community. The **** Gay News. I do like the position offered and the work environment, however I feel that if other companies see this on my resume in the future they may be reluctant to hire me or may think I and homosexual (not that there’s anything wring with that -seinfeld).
Am I being paranoid, or could this type of discrimination prevent me from progressing in the future?

Unemployed Web Developer Advice Required?

I’m 22, from the UK, I have nothing but high-school GCSEs (B-Cs) and some college education.I was recently made redundant from a retail job, due to the current economic state here in UK, I don’t believe I’ll be employed again any time soon.
I’m seeing being unemployed as a mixed blessing, I have little bills to pay, live at home with parent, so lots of spare time on my hand.
For the past 6-7 years I’ve been studying Web Development. I’ve become more than fluent in XHTML/CSS, javascript, PHP, Mysql relational database design, SEO, typography, regular expression, and lots of other stuff, I’m a master at none but >= fluent in them all 🙂
I’ve only ever built sites for fun or stupid things like blogs or messed about with APIs such as Facebook and Amazon, yet now I find I have an opportunity to make a hobby a job. Question is I have no experience as an entrepreneur except maybe marketing/SEO, so I do not know where to start, I have no niche site idea, haven’t got lots of cash to spend on marketing, no products… I have nothing to offer users but fancy blank pages… not exactly king content!
So where do I start? 🙂
Kind Regards
Mike

Should I Send My Written Acceptance Letter Now?

On Wednesday, I received a job offer from a law firm that practices exactly the niche area of law I’m interested in so I was very excited about the offer – they wanted me to start next week. I called them back today to discuss the details of the offer and to accept the offer. I was informed that they would like to move the start date back a few weeks to late-January/early-February but they didn’t have an exact date at this time. I accepted the offer under those terms and asked that they send me written confirmation of everything we discussed with the precise start date. Should I wait until I receive their letter prior to sending my letter/email essentially providing written confirmation of my acceptance of the offer?
