I have a really close friend (but we’re not a couple) and I’ve been trying really hard not to hide my thoughts or emotions from her, and whenever we have an issue I try to calmly speak my side on it. I heard that it is really important to women you are close to to feel like you are talking to them from your heart and that they can do the same with you. that is what I was trying to do… but she hates it.
She has actually called me a terrible person and has been generally cruel to me ever since I started being real with her. I don’t think it’s one of those “she only wants what she can’t have” scenarios, because she’s not like that at all. She wants me to be fake and to hide everything, but i can’t do that now, it isn’t natural. Bottom line- she cannot stand me, and I don’t know what to do. Can you offer a suggestion?
And yes, I am going to copy and paste this question into all of the niches of yahoo answers that it could apply to.

Although there is a possibility you were ‘hacked’, it is far more likely that your address was compromised by one of the powerful spam bot networks. They have the ability to crack passwords, especially weak ones. They can also ‘spoof’ the addresses in the From: area to make it more likely that they will be opened. Remember all those who use the To: or CC: heading rather than BCC: for addresses? Remember all those who forward e-mails with countless addresses still in them? They open all those addresses to spammers – all it takes is one infected computer down the line somewhere! Spammers have programs just to ‘harvest’ e-mail addresses. Your account has been seriously compromised, and more of this type of letter will keep happening. It may not even be your own computer that was infected. Nonetheless, act promptly!
Yahoo’s advice is to change your password, but there are several more security settings to change than just your password. This Help page has more information, stated clearly, with several links to clarify the steps.http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=cont…
1. FIRST, check that the alternate e-mail address/mobile phone number is still yours, under Options, Mail Options, Account Information, but then change the alternate address! (so the hacker will not be notified of the change). Check the ‘Reply To:’ address as well to be sure it is still yours.
Then change both your password AND your secret questions and answers. Make the password a long, strong one with mixed characters! Length = Strength for passwords! Start with a sentence and make substitutions with numbers, symbols and punctuation. Go to “Update password-reset info” to change your Secret Questions and Answers. Make sure they are unchangeable, unique, and easy for you to remember. For a Yahoo account, you can change your password at https://edit.yahoo.com/config/change_pw. If you can no longer access your account, you can get a new password at https://edit.yahoo.com/forgotroot/.
See http://strongpasswordgenerator.com/ for more tips on creating a strong password(and what NOT to use)
2. *** If spam mail was sent to any of your contacts, apologize, and notify all your contacts NOT to open short e-mails, especially those with no subject, and definitely not to click any links. Warn them to change their passwords and scan for malware too, just in case. (The limit is 100 addresses per mail, and 200 per hour, but send to far fewer than that in each message, just in case you trigger Yahoo’s spam ‘suspicious activity’ detector.) Set up an alternate ‘alias’ account to use instead. This allows you to use a different address for sending, but still keep all saved mails and contacts and the first address active too for incoming mail. Your friends can trust this new address! There is a choice of address in an arrow in the From: box. Also add a signature to your mail so your friends will be sure the mail is really from you …http://edit.yahoo..com/config/list_alias (alternate address)
3. When the password doesn’t work and the security questions have been changed, go to https://edit.yahoo.com/forgotroot/
After filling in your ID and password as usual, click the proper category of ‘I can’t sign in’ [Account compromised] to send an email with all of the information an agent needs to respond within 12-24 hours, hopefully …
– Give them your identity using your country, and the same alternate email address or mobile phone number and Security Questions and Answers that you provided during registration or the last time you edited. You might also be asked for your birthday, ZIP or postal code at the time you last updated.
Check your alternate e-mail for a response. Sometimes the mail will be found in the Spam folder instead. If you didn’t register an alternate e-mail address or mobile phone number previously, you will be out of luck, and can only use the direct phone line method: Call 866-850-4303 toll-free (Open 7 days a week, 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. Pacific Standard Time) Be prepared for a VERY long wait, even hours …
4. Read the Yahoo Mail Blog entry for December 8th, 2011 for all possible steps, including if you forgot or do not have secret questions and answers …http://www.ymailblog.com/

First, can any soldier retire a flag? If so I know Veterans do retirements through the VA and VFA, what I am wondering though is if I can bring the 100-125 flags we have rescued from certain death on the production line at the thrift store I work at to a few different retirement homes around the area. My father is a war vet. and I know what some of these guys have gone through (well I don’t really know at all) and I feel like allowing them to do something so patriotic/serving their country in a small way would really brighten their day. I read a bit about the ceremonies and it requires some special things to do it but since the retirement homes are affiliated with the VA and VFA wouldn’t they be able to use their things?
I’m naive to this whole situation and am probably over looking massive details so, can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

Hello, I’m starting a new business. One of the major aspects of my business would involve using online affiliate marketers. I was wondering what the tax implications of this would be such as: would I need to send out W2’s to all marketers? Also, if this would be something I need to do, do you know if it is difficult to file this (especially if I’m on a low budget and do not have a team of lawyers to help me with this)? How difficult and how much legal knowledge does it require to set up a system to send out annual tax statements?
My business is based off of having many affiliates working for me and probably working very little (some affiliates only making $5-$10 per year because the effort of marketers if very little and would take them less than 2 minutes. Considering the expectation of many affiliates at low commissions, how would sending out tax returns hurt my bottom line?
Thank you for any and all advice you can give.

I’m writing about a London girl moving to the Philippines, trying to solve the mysteries of her family’s past in the country. I’m an amateur Filipino writer, and I stayed in England for quite some time, so you can trust me on this one! I just need opinions, perhaps constructive criticism, but not mean remarks. If you didn’t like it, just say it simply. Don’t add harsh words. Some Tagalog words are translated in the story as well, so no worries! As for the title, I don’t have something in mind yet 🙂

Chapter One: Kaylan
She didn’t know how long she had been sleeping, but when she opened her eyes, everything was clear. A brilliant shade of blue patched with fluffy white clouds in the sky and a line of emerald green trees met her eyes, as the warm summer sun kissed her skin through the untainted car window.
She glanced at her watch, and it said 8:42 – probably 12 midnight or so back home. No, wait. This place with this fine sky, endless row of tranquil trees, and hot weather is also her home. It just makes sense, because her father was born in this country, and it was also here where he grew up and found the love of his life, her mother, whom he barely talks about after the tragic accident that befell their family when she was just a baby.
There was very little she knew about her mother. It was not her favourite colour, or her favourite book. It was not even how she looked. She never saw a single picture of her. It was her handwriting.
Before she left, she stumbled upon a mildew-spotted parcel in the basement. She had never seen it before, and out of curiosity, she undid the dusty ribbon that fastened it, and lifted its lid. Inside were a few letters, old and crisp, carefully folded, and another one inside was a necklace with a framed preserved white aster for a pendant.
She didn’t show her find to anybody. She didn’t want anybody to know that a piece of her life has come into light. Nobody spoke of her mum, or at least, not around her. It was like a long-buried secret, who her mother was. Her name was never uttered. Pictures were never shown. She didn’t even know if her mother was still alive. All she had were a few letters and a necklace. Are they even enough to get to know her? She felt like a lost child once again, constantly longing for her mum.
The taxi turned to a sharp curve, and little by little, the line of trees was gone as houses and local businesses came into view. They stop for a while to pay the toll fee, and accelerated again, though more slowly this time, getting caught in a Saturday morning traffic jam.
Her heart leapt when a woman in rags with a half-clothed baby sleeping in a blanket slung on her shoulder tapped on her window, asking for some change. Her hand motioned to her pockets to fish a few coins, but before she was able to reach out to the beggars, the driver shooed them away. She felt sorry for them. Then, just in time, the red light turned green, and with a left turn, they escaped the congested national road.
They drove past a market, rice fields, and a public school; empty and lonely due to the much-awaited summer break. Children living in tin houses by the road ran carefree, worn out slippers slightly protecting their tiny feet from the hot rocky ground. Mothers were nearby, tending to their daughters’ hair. She suddenly felt jealous of them, and started to wonder what it felt like to have her hair brushed by her own mum.
Shaking the thoughts out of her head, the driver makes a turn once more, entering a subdivision. The houses around were far different from the place she grew up in, they were rather small and pretty tight, but they all looked home-y, compared to her house which seemed more like a whole town itself than a home.
The taxi came to a stop before a bungalow with well-tended flower beds; a flush of periwinkle, grew by the steps that led to the gate, orange cosmos ringed the blue mailbox, and a bush of tiny red flowers lined with the fence.
‘We’re here, ma’am.’ the taxi driver declared.
‘You sure?’
‘Yes, ma’am, 7 Sampaguita street.’
‘OK,’
The driver stepped out of the car, and unloaded her luggage from the trunk. She stepped out as well, and paid the driver, adding a few quid for the tip.
‘Thank you,’ she said.
‘Thank you too, ma’am,’ he tipped his cap, got back into the car, and left.
She took the steps to the gate, and with a deep breath, she gave the tiny bell a ring and waited.
‘Sandali lang!’ Just a moment, a familiar voice from inside said.
Before long she heard the shuffling of slippers, and the front door opening.
